I'm so confused with our LB situation...

At MIKE: we have Anthony with virtually no competition... even though his spot was taken mid year last year by Shuey.
At SAM: we have Christian, who has played 3 years but has been terribly inconsistent, with freshman TJ Burrell pushing him.
At WILL: we have Shuey who has obviously proven himself. Then we have Steward, who has all the talent in the world supposedly. Then we have Kellen Jones, who everyone says is possibly our best LB and played as a true freshman at Oklahoma.
Obviously we have a great plan as Venables is the man. But it just seems that we're stockpiled at WILL while allowing virtually no competition for Christian and Anthony. Why do they deserve to have the positions locked down?

How could Shuey be moved out after he took over for Anthony last year? And did such a great job. And I think that Steward should be pushing Christian? But what do I know, except that Boulware looked like a beast at the weigh-in and he may be best ball hawk out there. What an AWESOME dilemma! LINEBACKER U. IS BACK!

Stephone took the WILL, simply based on speed and size.

who knows if they're even telling the truth on these depth charts.
We won't know until after pads are put on and scrimmages.

Shuey struggles in space against the pass. It was a huge liability against USCjr as they abused him pretty bad in that game. That is why he was moved to will. My only issue is with Christian. While he is great against the pass, he gives up the edge and is taken off his feet way to easily. I wish we could move someone over there, but they would have to be able to cover TE's one on one.

From what I've seen Tig Willard will be sorely missed. He had a knack for being in the right place at the right time that none of the returning LBs have exhibited to this point.

he's over agressive for the MIKE. seems like he always over pursue the run and left huge holes. He seems taylor made to run a little more free on the edges and is quicker on pass coverage. but whatever....guess he's changed.

Steward was rated a 5 star recruit. (but has had knee injury issues)
Hopefully Steward (and Anthony) will earn more playing time and be more productive this year.
I'm hoping to see those 2 and Peake/Bryant live up to their recruiting hype.

proven LB we have. Anthony and Christian are listed at starter because they have the most experience, even if they have under-performed. Kellen Jones is where he is on the depth chart, in large part, because he has yet to play a down at Clemson. I'm pretty sure Jones will play more than one LB position in an attempt to get him on the field.
We have a lot of bodies at LB, even a lot who have been in the program for a while, but only one (Shuey) who has really proven himself. Aside from him, I think all the spots are up for grabs, and the coaches would love to see somebody step up (like Shuey did last year) and take it. Even though coaches would prefer to redshirt our freshmen, I'm sure they will get a look and I would not be shocked to see one or more of them see the field this year.
