Has he not been carrying bricks this entire time at Clemson? This "building process" didn't start a month ago.

DJ Shouldn't be talking to the Media Right Now
Sep 24, 2021, 8:29 AM

He needs to stay out of the public and the coaches should intervene. This is going to be one of the problems with NIL. I'm sure his sponsors want his face out there but this is a time when he needs to lay low until his gets better.
As was noted, clichés are the last thing we need to be hearing from DJ. Dabo has more than enough to cover the entire team.

You do realize as the qb of an elite college football programs, he has media obligations just like the coaches right? But just keep trashing a 19 yr old who plays for the team you root for. You miserable old fart.

You know the old adage; when you ASSume, right?! Yeah. Anyway. What does being young have to do with not performing well?! He’s EXPECTED to play like a 5* recruit. He’s playing like a no star. Football is a business. Period. He’s not getting the job done. Next man up. It’s a cruel world, Sally. Reality bites. What’s worse: he who speaks the truth, or a blind cheerleader?! I’ll take the former all day!! You’re the one guilty of ageism. Surprised the thumbs down were only 78%!

Our players get interviewed after every loss and every win; have you not noticed that? Dabo won't "shield" anybody because of some struggles. Even without NIL, there's a TON of money wrapped up in football paid by the fans and folks want to hear from the kids and the coaches, good and bad.
I'd much rather hear what DJ has to say than an ESPN headline "Clemson QB refuses media interviews". Wouldn't you?

Seriously, why the grammar police?! Is there anyone worse than that guy/girl?! In reality, the average person does not understand proper grammar/spelling for words a Summa ### Laude graduate, or even average high school graduate know. What’s the point?! I have a cousin who can’t spell to save his life. It didn’t stop him from serving 23 years in the Corps. Makes six figures, owns multiple homes, and drives a sports car most can only dream of. I have a theory, it’s a lack of power in one’s personal life, Internet power behind an avatar is the only taste of power they have. Maybe it should make me sad instead of glad? Maybe.

Since even DJ knows he still has a lot to learn, then...
Sep 24, 2021, 9:43 AM

... why not rotate Taisun and DJ during the game. This is Taisun's 3rd year in the system and he appears to be more proficient than DJ right now, so let him play!
Sure, DJ will get there, but how long will that take. What if Taisun is playing better than DJ ... is that what everyone is trying to avoid?
It worked with Trevor and Kelly Bryant and then you evaluate where they are after each game.
DJ himself said, "I'm not Trevor, I'm DJ." Exactly. It might take him a little longer to become more comfortable and proficient as a starter, and that's fine.
It would put the opposing defenses off balance ... at least a little ... if we have two quarterbacks that they have to worry about.
Makes sense to do something different now, because doing the "same old, same old" doesn't seem to be working right now.

This has been my point from the start. Add a little urgency and hunger to the situation. Not just TP, throw in more Taylor. The kid is electric and a big play waiting to happen. He has no pressure on his job. If/when that happens, effort increases.

Stop the cliches. Fix it
Sep 24, 2021, 9:52 AM

But here are my thoughts: Next man up. If DJ is making too many mistakes, sit him for a series and try a new QB - perhaps one with different style, like Will Taylor. Don't wait til half time (or after the game) to make adjustments. That's on the coaches. Surely we have different plays for different defenses. Surely we have practiced against defense designed to stop the pass - not original concept.

Just because it’s a cliche doesn’t make it untrue. It IS: next man up. If he worked for me, he’d have been watching someone else do the job since game one. Football is a business. He’s a grown man in a grown world. Time he felt some hunger and pressure for his job. Not just the perception.

You really want Will Taylor to be our quarterback? He has three muffed punts and fumble. He needs to see less time, not more, especially at Quarterback.

Ba the 105th rated QB in college football?! Did you REALLY just ask that?! Try understanding the psychology of coaching a little. Is Chase Brice better than DJ? Right now he is! If this was the NFL, how long would it take to try a new guy? I never said to stay with him. But, he might come in and be the next star. That’s the beauty of football. Wally Pipp gets hurt and Lou Gehrig gets the job. Pipp was better on paper. Bledsoe was better than Brady on paper. How’s that work out?!

Rome was built over 1229 years so it's a good idea to avoid cliche's-especially on here at Tigernet. We all know that the Defense was dropping 8..however there is a cushion in front of the 8. What happened to the TE and quick slants. With 3 down linemen-even if a DE peels off, how hard is it to get leverage? In general, the For whatever reason, historically the TE has been not much more than another blocker. We always wonder if whoever the guy is, if they have hands. This is the antithesis of what happened to us back in DF days when we were trying to run on some teams but could not pass. BC put 8 men in the box 1 year, we did not throw and we got beat. The TE does what was done back in the 80's. This is more observation. No bashing intended but rather a discussion of tactics.
The situation is infinitely more complex than most of us understand, including myself. I freely admit I don't have the knowledge to be coaching a team nor would I want to-not even for coaching salaries(I think they earn every dime). We don't need to be trashing players and berating coaches as many of us remember the painful years(decades) of the past. I personally very thankful for our coaches as I think we all are. It's just when you watch a chess match-sometimes you want to understand a move. It makes it easier to watch the match if you know somewhat what the strategy is.

Teams tried this with DW4 and TL16 and both of those qbs licked their chops and dinked and dunked the first half. Built 20+ point leads and the D changed real quick.

I'll be perfectly honest, I've been worried about our offensive scheme and playcalling well before the LSU game. The lack of creativity and evolution offensively, coupled with relying purely on mechanics in development rather than a combination of feel/mechanics generates uptight results. Dj needs to relax and be a gunslinger & throw some deep 50/50 balls, our defense has his back. Wait....... I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT ROME....I FEEL MUCH BETTER NOW, WHEW?? .....BUT ON THE OTHER HAND....BOBERRY BISCUITS WERE BUILT IN A COUPLE HOURS AND THEY ARE MAGNIFICENT. back to square 1. SIMPLIFY THINGS TONY!! 2 COMPLIMENTARY SAME SIDE READS WITH A BACKSIDE FADE & PLAYACTION SPRINKLED IN FOR STARTERS. The game is moving really fast for DJ currently and simple success will slow things down for anticipated crossing routes etc. The Fade is an easy fit for qb confidence and tall wr's. Its an easy throw & catch that doubles as a punt worse case scenario.

Wow, I didn’t realize how many great coaches we had right here on tigernet!
And it’s just a cliche, so what!? This kid is a good kid who is working hard and finding his way, apparently not as quickly as some of you idiots want! I am embarrassed and ashamed to be in the same boat as some of you. Please don’t call yourselves fans or supporters. You’re just a bunch of heartless whiners!
I look forward to to DJ, and the rest of the team, proving you wrong and improving as the young season goes on. We have a bunch of great kids and I’m glad to have them!
Go Tigers

Re: TNET: Uiagalelei preaches patience on Clemson offense: "Rome wasn't built in a day"

No it wasn’t, but we can sure flush our season in a day. And that may fly if this was his first game. Overthrews, rifling a swing pass like it’s 60 yards downfield and holding the ball too long. It’s a good thing we have a good defense, or we would look like FSU right now. Our offense doesn’t move if the QB don’t run. I hope to see a big improvement this weekend. GO TIGERS!!!

Did TL say this his Freshman year? The program is well established, and the only building necessary is to keep great players on the field.

Some QBs take time to develop as starters. DJ has proven his potential, but he is obviously developing as a starter. We also have lots of new players and players playing in new positions. The OL has not helped much starting at UGA, and that's when the mental issues started.
Get off kid's back for using this phrase. We ARE building.
