How can can a player walk away from the contract? I am totally confused about these contracts. Has anyone seen this contract type of deal? Are there no penalties for breaking the contract?

In real life (even in the PROS) there is a penalty. NIL is different and special. There are no rules, and more importantly - no one to enforce them if there were.

Here is what AI has to say.
College players can walk away from NIL (name, image, and likeness) deals for various reasons, including disputes over the value of the deal, concerns about the contract's terms, or simply deciding that the benefits no longer outweigh the drawbacks. NIL deals are complex and subject to interpretation, leading to potential disagreements between players and sponsors. Here's a more detailed look at some of the reasons: Disputes over deal value: Players may feel the compensation offered by a sponsor is not commensurate with their value or the potential reach of their NIL. Contractual issues: Players may disagree with specific clauses in the NIL contract, such as obligations or restrictions on how they can use their name, image, and likeness. Personal circumstances: A player's career goals or priorities may shift, leading them to decide that pursuing other opportunities, like transferring to another school, is more advantageous than continuing with the NIL deal. External pressures: A player may face pressure from family, friends, or coaches to leave the program, even if they are satisfied with the NIL deal. Lack of clarity in NIL regulations: The current state of NIL regulations is evolving, and players may find themselves in situations where the rules are unclear or subject to interpretation, leading to uncertainty and potentially unwanted consequences. In essence, the reasons for a player walking away from an NIL deal are multifaceted and can vary greatly depending on the individual circumstances and the nature of the agreement. Why is UNLV QB Matthew Sluka walking away from his undefeated team? NIL deals cannot legally be contingent on playing for a specific school.
