Next time that @davidhood and the powers that be interview

Graham Neff, I’d like for them to ask him if he has a specific plan/strategy targeting nil.
Most coaches and athletic directors say that they support nil so I’m not looking for “yes, it’s a good idea yada, yada.” With him just taking over for DRad, I want to know if and how he foresees Clemson taking a proactive, hands on approach to it.
I am not talking about anything like bagmen handing out 30 million like what’s rumored about Texas a&m. our football team already does presentations to recruits about the subject and has incorporated a bit through the PawJourney program.
From my experience in the corporate world, if you are not out front and proactive on things and you are simply reacting to things as they happen, and you will quickly get left behind by the competition.
My very limited early impression of Neff, is that he seems like he wants to be in innovative and on the cutting edge of things so my gut tells me that yes, he’s putting something in place but this is just a hunch and I’d love to hear him voice specifics..

This. I've been meaning to post a question to David about about doing an article that would summarize how Clemson is positioning itself with NIL. I don't expect us to be on the top of this with our resources but I would expect us to be competitive. As crazy as the landscape is now we have to at least temporarily accept it, do our best, and then push and hope for some change with the rules in the future. An article would be awesome @davidhood.

Maybe Clemson can hire you to be Neffs boss and tell him how it’s done….

That's actually not a bad idea. More than qualified but not sure of his current employment status.

From what I have read S.C. colleges and universities are not able to negotiate NIL deals on behalf of athletes. It would require a legislative change in the law, much like what Florida is trying to do right now. If this is the atmosphere that we are now in, recruiting will suffer as long as other states have laws that allow these schools to have NIL deals ready to lure athletes into a commitment. Culture is going to have little affect in recruiting as it is all about how much I can make now. Not sure that the AD can do a whole lot at this point to put together any kind of plan. The University Presidents need to be lobbying the SC State Legislature sooner than later to make SC Schools competitive.

different sets of rules depending on which state that they are in. That's definitely not an even playing field, and I would bet that Pres Clements and our bot have already contacted government officials multiple times. Unfortunately, government runs at a snail's pace, and it may take quite awhile before anything will get amended.
What they really need is someone to oversee everything and run the process fairly. Normally, that would be the ncaa, but they seem to have given up any say so a good while back and now appear totally neutered with any authority on the matter.

I think it's an NCAA rule. Universities are not suppose to have anything to do with NIL other than the teaching part. They are supposed to have no influence on NIL's nor are they suppose to lure recruits using NIL. We see how well that is going. There should be no way a company or booster should come out like at Texas and say all scholarship offensive linemen will receive $50,000 a piece. The NCAA still controls eligibility and Texas should receive a postseason ban for that. You start implementing post season bans for those things and not allowing teams to buy championships it may help curve it.

I agree, Colbert. Excellent post. Having worked in corp management for many years myself, you're exactly right!
