Will there be more Duke fans than Clemson fans next week?
I remember in the 90s, tommy west was the head coach and my brother was a student at Clemson (Johnstone)Clemson played at home
Against NC State game. Philip Rivers was the quarterback and Tori Holt at wide receiver. NC State had lot of fans at that one. The Clemson crowd was so small that they allowed the students to come sit down in the lower section (aka the good seats). Supposedly to make it look better for TV.
That was a sad time for Clemson football. I guess they are right-history does repeat itself!

Duke will probably bring more fans than usual but it is still Duke. Sure the home crowd will be noticeably smaller, I bet, but I dont think it has gotten to the level of the West years. At least I hope not.

Next week FSU hosts Wake Forest for homecoming.
Folks are wondering if the stadium will be full. But, even if it is, here is what is expected.
1. When Norvell is introduced over the PA system as the HC of "your FSU Seminoles!" There will be a loud chorus of boos.
2. As the team runs onto the field there will be cheers for the team, but mixed in will be boos for Norvell.
3. After every bad play there will be booing.
4. There will be chants throughout the game calling for his firing. The most optimistic folks are hoping the chants will not be vulgar (Let's go Brandon!) but will at least keep it clean (Fire him now! or Do it now! or something like that.)
At least 98.6% of the fans have completely given up on Norvell. Even if my some miracle the Noles finish 5-0, most fans will still want him gone. (I think 0-5 is more likely.)
Lot of schools have fans that are upset with their coaches: Clemson, UNC, Auburn, Kentucky, to name a few. But, none of them match the degree of anger Nole fans have. Many fans are hoping Wake wins the game and Norvell will be fired on the spot.

another football head coaches scalp next week. Losing to Wake seems to have a history of "final straws" for a lot of coaches (Tommy Bowden, Oregon State's HC this year etc...).
I know the FSU AD has said he will reassess Norvell's future after the conclusion of the season but.... I can't help but think that if Wake whips FSU (especially if done in a convincing fashion) that FSU goes ahead and fires Norvell on Sunday if not Saturday night.

New schemes take time and players need to learn it. Sadly in this time of instant gratification, it doesn’t matter. Common sense and patience has gone away. Look at that perpetual disaster in Gainesville. Tennessee still hasn’t fully recovered from running off Fulmer. Sarkezian will be on the hot seat soon at Texas now that we know Arch Manning isn’t Archie, Peyton or Eli Manning. It’s enough to make you quit watching.
I’d give Norvell two more seasons. If he goes 0-24, then make a change and not hire a new coach with a crazy buyout contract.

We are a wounded animal, and Other team see our vulnerability. They are enjoying it while they can so I will not be surprised me If a bunch of Duke fans were to go to the game however it was more about how many Clemson fans will actually show up.

In that game, I got the quarterback wrong. It was Barnett, but he played like Philip Rivers. And I was at games in early 2000 and saw Philip Rivers too.
Just off by a few years and I not #### coot ! . In that year that Torry , went off on us , Which was Tommy West last year - I sit there and watch Clemson get beat 37-0 against Virginia Tech early in the season. The stadium wasn’t even half full. I stayed the whole game and we didn’t get a first down I think until like the third quarter. The only good thing about that season is that we beat South Carolina, and I saw Tommy West get carried off the field by the Clemson players. It takes a coot to know a coot. Coot.
