I just joined Tnet this week, despite the fact that I have "lurked" for years, and that I've been a Clemson fan for five decades or more (I attended Clemson during the Pell/Ford period). I joined because a week or so ago several posters were kind of on Davis’ and Herbstreit's case, and at the time I thought I'd join the boards and defend them a bit. I thought better of it, but now that I have joined I'll man up and say I've found these guys to be, if anything, more in Clemson's corner than not the last few years. Sure, they don't sing our praises 24-7, but they are a lot more objective and I think try to be more honest than most of the SEC shills on ESPN (the clip on you tube when Davis schooled little Lou Holtz a few years ago during the game against the coots is one of my all-time favorite clips). All this is to say that unlike all the Finebaums and Korncoots out there, so-called “journalists” with what seems to be a strong anti-Clemson bias, it makes me appreciate these guys a lot. I think they honestly try to report sports news, as opposed to opinion colored by decades of prejudice.

The idea that clemson gets in if they lose to miami is both ridiculous and horrifying when one of those losses was to syracuse. I am a life long clemson fan and my blood runneth orange. I do however only want the teams to be in the playoffs that deserve it, and if clemson loses to miami they do not deserve to be in the playoffs period.

Herbstreit and Davis both put qualifications in there. Both referred to if it was a tight game, so basically one that could have gone either way. They also say if certain other teams lose. If Wisconsin and Oklahoma win it's a mute point but if Ohio State and TCU win, then who would you put in? Ohio State who lost by 15 at home to OU and Iowa by 31? Alabama who only played one really good team all year and lost by 12, therefore not even winning the division of their conference? Or TCU who lost to Oklahoma earlier and who few really consider a possibility? Those are your only choices unless you are going to argue that one of the teams such as Oklahoma or Wisconsin, who are ranked behind Clemson right now, could lose and be a better candidate.

I've used the term 'Dynasty maintenance,' several times...

this season when appeared we substituted too early and too often. With the kinetic energy we have it's just a matter of time until everyone realizes we are not building a dynasty we are now maintaining one.

So well said. Our dynasty already exists, just as Alabama's, though theirs has existed longer. We, none the less, are in every conversation, as we should be. We have earned it too!
