From a CBS article...(all schools have their problems dont they!?) PSU coach on hot seat...I still like our Tigers!

Penn State, Texas fall out of AP's Top 25. Entering the college football season, the Longhorns were the preseason No. 1 and the Nittany Lions sat at No. 2, but after previous losses and then defeats at the hands to unranked teams on Saturday, both schools find themselves outside the AP's Top 25 this week. And our John Talty asks if Penn State coach James Franklin would just be better off resigning.

It is the "returning starters" fallacy at work again. The ranking people will eventually catch on to the fact that returning starters means "could not afford to upgrade in the portal" now and is negatively correlated to wins.

Old ffotball adage: "The good news is that most of our players from last year are returning...the bad news is that most of our players from last year are returning!"...looks like Texas, Penn St and...Clemson can say.

The networks would never let it happen, but how about no rankings until week 5? Teams have games under their belt, maybe a conference game or two. Rankings are a joke anyway. Pre-season rankings are a farce.
