Lots of fun on the porch today. Will hit the Lake tomorrow on Decoration Day.

Baby critters are out. My Bluebird and Woodpecker populations have exploded. Baby Hummingbirds will show soon.
Below are Carolina Wrens still feeding a kid.

Also is a a large and small turtle on a floating slab I cut from a Giant Sequoia I grew from a seedling in my yard.

I am not a frog expert even though I have had an abnormal interest in them since I was a tyke.

Hoppy Toads are out now, and thick this year. Many tree frogs are now making racket. All toads are frogs but not all frogs are toads.

I raise Bullfrogs every year. Some would say one just showed at my pond, but nope.
I would say this is a Bronze Frog. They live life just like a Bull Frog, but are much smaller.

Blue Jays have not let my pet Crow (Eugenia) enter the yard for a while as they guard their nest.

Baby House Finch are about now. A fun note is beautiful Gold Finch will not mate until September.

I've seen them grow large enough to capture a gold finch. I would keep an eye on them.

I had a bear strip the limbs out of a huge Emerald Green Giant Arborvitae last week. It was one of three in a row and the bear massacred the whole bottom up 10-12 feet. Broke limbs the size of a baseball bat. I don't know what he was after or what made him mad at that tree, but he has left me with a decision to make. Cut it down or let it be ugly?

Bears do w t f they want.
In 23 years here have had them show seldom. They tear down my feeders, but I don't get upset. I like bears.
Same with coons and squirrels and skunks.

I put an electric fence around some feeders about 2 foot off the ground. I suspect I am the only critter ever electrocuted by it.
Since the fire it is not up and working, need to consider that.
