MY spring game thoughts, after going back and reviewing.

We will be fine. Offensively, not a whole lot of sustained drives, but, some of that was due in part to no live hitting on the QBs. There were SEVERAL plays where Klubnik would have busted off some long runs, but plays were blown dead by the Dabo Whistle. Also, anytime anyone got close to the QB in the pocket, it was called a sack. Gotta believe some of those would have been "off schedule" gains as well. So, the offense was artificially stunted.
Defensively, we are going to hurt some people this year. Even with the number of players that were missing, there were flashes of dominance, especially from Peter Woods. As advertised and then some. With 142 more days to get in the weight room and absorb defensive schemes, he is going to be a major disrupter in the middle.
So, far from being disappointed like some seem to be, I call today an optimistic start. Work left to do, and Garrett Riley has not suddenly brought in a Duesenberg to replace a Pinto, but his offense is all about repping to perfection. Lots of film of imperfections to show the guys and learn from today, along with some good things.
142 days is gonna be a long time to wait.

Great post. Today was a learning day for many kids who may not play a snap all year and that is what is good about a Spring Game, even if it was not a real game.
