My overreaction to 1 game.

I've posted that I try very hard not to over react. So, what am I about to say I preface it by saying this: If I were going to over react, this is what my over reaction would be.
Watching highlights of the game, after seeing it live, here is my reaction.
It seems like the offense had the mindset, "This is who we are, this is what we do. Stop us if you can."
That works well when you are superior to other teams. Our guys are better than your guys and we will just out athlete at the skill positions and out muscle you in the trenches. You can beat Wake and Stanford and Virginia that way, but when you are facing equal opponents it doesn't work nearly as well. "Those guys are on scholarship and, in today's game, getting paid big bucks, too."
I blame the coaching staff. The game plan should be, "This is what they do, so this is how we will attack it." And, then as the game progresses, "This is what they are doing, so this is how we will attack it."
I've seen the offensive plays being described by various people as uninspired (Mac Lain), ordinary, mundane, uncreative and (my word) vanilla.
Where was the "eye candy"? Where was the misdirection?
Like I said, that is what I would say if I were over reacting. But, I'm not. So, I really didn't say that. The above post was written by hypotheticalbret.
I'm listening to Cade as I type this. He is saying the exact opposite. He says he was worried to much about what they were doing than just going through his progressions.

So he was as confused as everyone else. That is comforting to know.

The only part of your post I disagree with is that it's an over reaction. We've seen it over and over.

My take following seeing it again is that Riley DID give Cade opportunities. Cade didn’t see his opportunities and he’s said as much himself.
Still there were some more basic things we could’ve done to help the struggling QB, but we did give opportunities for the O to succeed. We didn’t because the QB didn’t function at full capacity.
Riley needs to prove he can run the ball and he needs to be more creative in helping a struggling QB if it occurs again. So yeah, Riley has some fault, but after review the lions share of the issue falls on the Sr QB who left the W on the field.

He needs to quit worrying and just start doing what he is paid to do. When you let worry enter your mind, you lose your focus. He's too experienced to be worrying about what the defense is doing. If you are prepared, you already know what they are doing and you should be adjusting to it. Maybe the coaches and players can't adjust to game conditions. Maybe they haven't been taught to adjust and maybe they don't practice it. Maybe we need new coaches.

What if this is just the first game of the year? This team will bounce back and win games in the CFP.

I thought the offense played stale - like they had practiced too much and their heads were still full of fall practice and had not sufficiently transitioned to playing with the Clemson gameplan designed specifically for LSU. I'm sure that will be fixed by this Saturday.

Yes, they did. And, there are plenty of over reacting Nole fans.

After 1 game.
We're heading to Charlotte.
11-1 is the floor. We could go 12-0.
Malzahn and White will be head coaches somewhere next year.
Tommy is the front runner for the Heisman.
Etc.
Overreactions are common - bad and good.

Riley has said as much in the beginning of his tenure. There were still a few lay ups Cade missed, the 3rd and 4 open receivers was a killer. I agree when the Oline and QB aren't getting it done there should be some misdirection / window dressing to help them out. Also, LSU's D was way better than most people thought... especially me
