...I believe Terry Kinard is trying to set up a lawsuit against Clemson University. I am not sure what kind of lawsuit he could file but I am sure there is something some attorney would jump on and try to make a case in this culture we are living in. This is the only explanation for his recent behavior while derailing any future his son may have had as a football player either with Clemson University or another school.
His antics and behavior the past two weeks have proven he is unhinged. At the practice that this alleged event occurred between his son and Dabo, there were well over 100 others in attendance. There were several former players watching bowl practice, there were some high school coaches in attendance that were not affiliated with Clemson University, there were non-football staffers, there were trainers, equipment personnel, other coaches, players, etc. I would also be willing to bet that practice was videotaped in some manner. Not a single person has corroborated Terry's story, not one person has leaked information in private corroborating Terry's or his son's story. Not a single teammate of Terry from his playing days has come out and offered support of him during this time. Not a single friend or teammate of his son, Jaden, has come out and offered support for him. In the current World we live in, people love to leak stories that hurt others. You mean to tell me not one of the over one hundred people at that practice would have corroborated the story even in a private manner if it was true?
I honestly believe this is more than a father looking out for his son. Ring of Honor, 1981 National Championship and great player does not give Terry the entitlement he thinks he deserves in 2023. His latest Facebook video is just another reason why Clemson University needs to distance themselves from him.
I am not one to cancel people, but Terry has dug his own grave here.

I would also like to add that I wouldn’t mind if Clemson took down his ROH sign in DV and replaced it with someone more deserving like TL16 or DW4.

Agree, unless it becomes more than just posts (words) then the less said the better.
You make a point tatted, but I think, as others have pointed out, it's as simple as TK thinking he's been dissed by Clemson and the administration.

I watched Terry Kennard play football for Clemson, as did many on this board. He was a great football player and was a major piece for a defense that won a national championship. He went on to represent Clemson very well as a starter for the New York Giants and an all pro level defensive player. He was greatness in a Clemson uniform.
I wish Terry didn’t go public with his complaint regarding his son’s experience, but I’ll give Terry all the slack in the world regarding this issue, which will certainly pass away with time.
An accountability run and a public dressing down are non-issues compared to what happened to Craig James son being put in the hotbox at Texas Tech. No lawyer is going to take a sniff much less a bite of this story for a lawsuit.
Hopefully, Jeff Davis will get involved in someway and make this go away. And hopefully the son will arrive at a destination where he has a competitive chance of reaching the field and is a better young man and player as a result of his short time at Clemson.

the less concerned I am about the interactions. That last FB video they made basically sounds like his son...
1) Had to do an accountability run for any number of transgressions that he outlined himself. 2) Had a coach who told him (paraphrasing) that you have to be accountable in life and on the field and if you are not there are consequences. And if you are not accountable at work, that is a reflection on how you handle your personal life. 3) Was told he was not a 5 star, you are a walk on, so things don't come easy, you have to work hard for what you want. (Same as Dabo) 4) Was asked the next day if a fire was lit under him from the interaction they had the day before. 5) Was told this in front of at least 10 people so it is ok that they made a public post on FB to retaliate.
Now, all of this may have been screamed at him, and laced with profanities, but even if so, it seems really mild. The bottom line is if the Kindards had never made the first FB post, I would have never known about the interaction at all, and I have a feeling I'm not the only one.
Maybe I am missing something.

My spidey sense tells me this is more about Terry feeling disrespected as a ROH recipient and Clemson family member for his past accomplishments than what happened to his son, whom Terry thinks should have received better treatment because of his Father's ties to Clemson. I'm sure his thinking is, "dammmm, I helped Clemson win a natty and gave them my best and this is how they treat my son? Embarassing him and his family in front of his team mates! Screw that chit!"
That's my take and I'm sticking to it. I think it s just that simple.

Dude was one of the best ever to play at Clemson. I played basketball with him at Fike many times and he seemed like a decent guy. Wasn’t a hothead or anything like that. He was a very good basketball player as well and could have easily played basketball at the collegiate level. But that was 40 years ago and I have no idea what his life has been like since. Really hate to see this but again, I wasn’t there so not going to judge anyone. His video doesn’t give any indication that he plans to pursue this any further but then again, I’m surprised that he even posted the video.

of his felonious behaviors in the past, and this being about a football coach scolding a player for not running.....I mean, sure an attorney ###### could latch onto it, but I am pretty sure the publicity would not be worth being made into a mockery.
I am sure Coach Dabo will not be worried but will also understand the situation as being somewhat volatile and not have any further words about this "supposed" act of discipline.
Remember, this is nothing but speculation at this point, nothing more. I have not heard a single witness back up this silly story, just Terry Kinard trying to stay relevant when he is not. He has tarnished any legacy he had at Clemson in my eyes, and I am sure the University is none too pleased to have such a person of poor character being as petulant as a little child towards his college of choice.

Yep surprising in a way but did not know the guy personally so maybe this should not be surprising. This is the kind of leadership that some of these kids are getting these days. If what I believe to be is indeed true I cannot even imagine my next conversation with my dad if I left out crying about a coach calling me out.

In the video he said there would be no more comment from them on this. I’m not sure why he felt the need to post the video or even the initial post but I hope he sticks to what he said and moves on.
As I said last week, since I wasn’t there I cannot comment on what if anything happened. I was at Clemson when TK was there and played basketball with him many times. He seemed like a decent guy but that was 40 years ago too.
I personally don’t think anything he has done so far rises to the level that he should be removed from the ROH. He earned that spot by his play on the field. I also don’t see anything here that makes me think he plans to pursue this any further but I’m surprised he has gone this far so who knows.
I also think Dabo’s response when asked about the situation was appropriate. I hope no one feels the need to continue asking questions because he has already stated his position and there really hasn’t been any new information from the Kinard’s that need to be addressed.

No way are there grounds for a law suit. Clemson can try to hold players accountable and can sit any player.
Dabo would not support removing Terry Kinard from Ring of Honor. Dabo has too much class for that.
I wish it could end quietly, with an apology from the Kinard family. But I'm not thinking that is likely.
Let's move on and continue to build an awesome football program with an enviable culture.
GO TIGERS!

After reading Terry’s post and Dabo’s response, it seems nothing more than a bit of a “pride dust-up.” Terry wants the best for his son, as most fathers do. He probably over reacted to what his son told him. The son is probably embarrassed because he has struggled to meet the standard set by his father. This is a very difficult but understandable situation. It is highly doubtful that Terry is looking for any kind of suit. He simply wants some more love and respect.
One thing for certain, Dabo handles these situations better than anybody, anywhere.
