My concern about the decommits

I assume when they call to let us know that they are de-committing, we are making some effort to try and talk them out of it. It makes me wonder what we are telling them that just doesn’t give them any confidence to remain.

It might not be what we're telling them. They have eyes. They can see what happens on Saturday. It doesn't take much to figure out where Clemson is as a program. Why join somewhere with the hope that you can rebuild it to relevant status when you have higher-paid offers to already-relevant programs?

Sadly, you are probably right. I’m sure other programs are also beating the lack of development drum too.

It may also be because of so many negative comments by Clemson fans. If I were a recruit I would be interested in Clemson coaches telling me how I could help revitalize the program. But one other concern that may push me in another direction. I would wonder if fans would give a successful Head Coach like Dabo time to fix the situation or will pressure from the fans force Dabo to resign or be fired. Much like several other head coaches this season have been dismissed, creating even more chaos this year in college football.
I have yet to read any other post except my own where it has been mentioned about some fans who should accept some responsibility for the current adversities the football program is going through. Now is the time Dabo and the team need our support.
Clemson fan support is needed now more than in a long time. Unless you want to bailout on Clemson because of adversity that the team can overcome But it’s important the that Dabo, the coaches, players and recruits need to feel they have the support of the fans during good times and bad times.
Remember that Clemson is a very special place loved by the fans and alumni. A great place we have supported for many many years. Now is the worst time to give up on Dabo and the team. 🐅🐅🐅

I would’ve thought if money was the main motivator, we would never have gotten them in the first place.

We didn't get them. Now, recruits can easily commit to what they think is right at the moment, until something better comes along. Probably happens every day.

As much as so many want to say $$$$$$ Clemson pays just as much as everyone else. What they are seeing with Clemson is people that go from their junior years to their senior years and they are actually worse players than they were the year before. what they have seen is a Clemson program that was supposed to be a national contender fighting not to be last in the ACC.
It would not surprise me if some of the decommits are taking LESS money just to get with a program they have confidence in.

As with any "employee" if a better paying job comes along they will leave you. This give them the illusion that the grass is greener on the other side. Sometimes it works out for them and sometimes is does not.
In an "employee's career at a young age at times there are a lot of voices saying what they should do. It's not until later in life and maturity that regrets sometimes settle in.
The early quick decisions they make when still wet behind the ears is almost always about the money no matter how hard they are asked to stay put.
Get another "employee" and keep moving forward.

It’s not money. Sick of hearing that stupid excuse. It’s ###### coaching and lack of player development.

I do not agree. Now, large amounts of $$$$ are being tossed around. And I don't think Clemson is one of the schools dispensing the cash.

Agree. Dabo was an elite recruiter before the money. Get him in front of Grandma and he was going to close the deal.
Now the families just look at the dollars and nothing Dabo says is going to make up for the cash other bigger, richer schools have.
My interest in all of it is waning fast. Just glad we had Dabo before the whole sport turned to ####.
