My biggest issue with Brownell...

Is that he does not BELIEVE. He does not believe we can win the ACC. He does not believe he can land top recruits. He does not believe we can go to the Final 4. If he did BELIEVE he would put those goals on the wall for all to see. He does not BELIEVE....and that is why he fails

I want a coach who BELIEVES

the biggest issue is that we have no identity

When BB took over, we were known for defending. We defended well. However, it became evident that we could not score. That evolved as we dive into the portal and BB changed in terms of who he would bring in.

Now, we are this mix of recruits, portal players, still struggle scoring, and do not defend as well as we once did…

zero identity year to year

Good coaches not only believe in themselves but they have an innate ability to make those around them believe and achieve more than they think they can. In the NCAAT, you look at teams like FDU, Furman, Princeton, etc. who on paper have no business being competitive against superior talent but they have a belief instilled in them that they can play beyond their potential. They have "no limits" thinking.

But your point is well taken, it all starts with the belief within a coach and his ability to get others to believe the same way...

And yet we finished third so not sure of the basis of your comment. Brad is obviously not an elite coach but his thread was about Musselman v Brad. Wanting a new coach and new energy in the program is reasonable as Brad has had plenty of opportunities but let’s not pretend the playing field is anywhere near level and the only thing between Clemson and being elite is a coaching change. Perhaps it would be required as a starting point but other factors are at play. This is especially true at a program which has few factors in its favor.

The financial inequities is a joke witnessed by this tourney. He is an average coach in a down ACC and still can not make the tourney. We are not playing in a high school gymnasium, added onto LJ which still looks very good while I was down there yesterday and he makes more than he is worth. Throw 40 million more with this coach and you might as well be flushing money down a toilet. Do any of you guys watch the games. These scoring droughts are self inflicted with the constant need to heave up long balls. Some days are just not your days and adjustments need to be made on those off nights. I don’t mean to be a contrarian but if you think that throwing money at his X’s and O’s you will continue to be disappointed. I will say I was very impressed with the FT shooting this year but on the off nights drive the basket or shoot more inside the FT line. Maybe I’m over thinking it but some of this stuff seems very obvious to the majority on this board.

My biggest complaint against CBB is that he loses SOOOO many games that should never have been lost.

If he was a Clemson's football coach, he'd go 4-4 in conference play, beating FSU but losing to Duke or Wake Forest, but ALSO lose to the Citadel and SC State in the early season. Then, having squeeked out a Humanitarian Bowl bid (do they still play that one?), he'd get blown out by the Akron Zips.

And you base this on what evidence? Oh, by the way, give us names of 4 or 5 star recruits we have had in the last 30 years.

I guess belief has been replaced with GRIT. What does it mean to have Grit?

Would you want to play for the guy? I would still go and play but I’m a homer and can’t imagine wearing another jersey but it would not be because I feel he is on the brink of greatness. Recruiting against him is easy seeing he has been there for so long and how we normally end our seasons.

Brownell is not an x and o guy. It took him about 10 years to run an inbounds play on a dead ball. You even see most coaches try to set this up coming out of halftime. That tells me an assistant coach was responsible for that.
He is also touted as a defensive guy. Watch our guys play defense, there is no help side because our back as to the ball. Tyson is a prime example at times. I can bet that we have never run to Shell drill in practice. I’ve had church ball coaches that put out better schemes than Brownell.
