Then see what you get for the next 20+ years. We’ve already done this with Danny. Brad Brownell is in a similar situation… we at least know what we’ve got with him. Dabo may not have any more national championships, but he’ll have competitive teams and will always be a great ambassador to Clemson University. In my opinion Dabo can stay as long as he wants, and we’ll keep having good teams that compete for conference titles and postseason matchups. Go Tigers!!!

Every few years some established coach gets canned for not winning pretty or an inability to be great instead of good. In most cases it takes more than a decade and multiple new hcs to approach where the were to start. I know the slide has been clear for 5 years. But they were still 9-10 win seasons. This season the wheels have come off. Don't fire him yet but if it doesn't improve next year then that opinion will start to shift.

We had a generational QB and we knew things would not be at that level. The team has been competitive and won the conference and made CFP appearances. This year is ugly, but we can't throw it all out on a few bad years.
It's a long game!

great ambassador is showing cracks. He gets mad and rants about the fans when HIS TEAM is 1-3.
I don't agree that it's a sure fire thing that he will keep winning or that we are incapable of hiring someone else than can do a better job in this new CFB environment.

If he didn't get mad at the critics you'd be the first to criticize him for not being "passionate about the job!" Some people are never satisfied. Let's just suppose the disgruntled fans like you can convince The Trustees to fire Dabo. Who you gonna hire that gives us a better chance of becoming, and staying, elite? Any big name coach is going to demand an 8 digit salary and a long term commitment after you fired Dabo. Yet there are no guarantees they will do better. If they don't, how long will we be stuck with them? Dabo knows how to win. He knows how to build an elite program. He deserves credit for what he's done here at Clemson. And he deserves to get to blast the whiners for their short-sightedness. Go Tigers!

Trophy 🏆 case full, 22 ACC Championships, 3 national titles, 85,000 seat stadium support, Clemson is above 800 victories which is top 13 all-time , Newer facilities, one of top NIL in the ACC, Clemson pays at the top of the coaching tree will attrack anyone . Dabo has brought 9 of those 22 Acc championships, 2 of the 3 Nattys, and a quarter of the win total. Do the simple math: 617 wins in 112 years = 5 to 6 wins a year 181 wins in 17 years of Dabo = 10 to 11 wins a year
Dabo is responsible to the new facilities thanks to money from winning big games, he’s responsible for start the NIL programs at Clemson (mind you before a lot of other schools did), and most importantly he’s responsible for having a culture where those 85,000 seats are filled for a game against Furman or Wofford. Other schools just don’t have that culture. I think Dabo would be the first to agree that no one man is bigger than Clemson, I’m just willing to respect the man for what he’s done.

Just like I posted, the Clemson head coaching position would attract anyone top coach today. But to say that because we have a coach (Dabo) step down , quit , fired , or whatever, and the next coach is not going to be any good or as good , is a bad assumption!!

Now you know , like I do that when Danny got fired we were having to keep our nose clean and with the ncaa keeping a eye on us , made Clemson have to be super selective on who they could put as head Coach . It is why we started with Hatfield. Idk why administration picked West... and none of tht hardware, that I mentioned other then a natty had not been acquired ... Comprehensive skills buddy , dont confused the younger ones by not comparingwhat i said....

All that I see in that post is a bunch of was and used to be’s.
Yeah, Dabo was a great coach Dabo used to be an elite recruiter. Dabo used to have our teams play physical Dabo “did” get us to the top.
Everything that we’re talking about now is about today and the future. We have been trending down since 2020. No big-time wins, lack of physicality, undisciplined, lack of elite playmakers, poor recruiting. Signs have been pointing to this day.
If Dabo stays and we get back to the top, I will eat every word I ever said. I just really don’t see him ever getting us back to a consistently top 10 team.

Nobody cares, the past is irrelevant to today’s players. Today is all that counts.
No upcoming college players care about who won multiple ACC championships over the past 10 years, or who won the Natty 7 years ago or more.
It’s what you can do now that counts.

I strongly disagree with you. Recruits do care what coaches have accomplished in the past. They also see how quick fans are to bail on their Successful Head Coach under the bus after 1 bad start in 17 plus years. When Dabo talks about the Special Culture at Clemson he is including the fans and fan support.
Maybe it’s time fans assumed some responsibility for maintaining Clemson’s Culture. If you want Dabo to step up and assume his responsibilities for Clemson’s success and Clemson’s lack of success.
You also need to realize it’s still the Wild Wild West in college football. Players being bought out from under other teams, teams bringing in 10 to 15 players through the TP. Then there is pure greed from the kids moms and dads. Dabo use to own the visits in the homes recruiting before NIL, Revenue Sharing and the TP. Before money became the main factor in recruiting and Dabo lost the moms and dads to greed this is when things started changing at Clemson.
I said in 2017 or 18 this would have a big impact on Clemson’s future as an Elite program.

IT ISN’T JUST ABOUT THIS YEAR.
It is about a five year decline in our program. A graph of our losses shows a very obvious trend line up and to the right since 2020. This year will likely continue that trend.
The issues with our program are notable, and significant. Some of us have been predicting this for a while now. It was obvious when the orange colored glasses were off. Sadly, many of these issues were preventable if not for stubbornness, arrogance, and hubris.
Fixing what is broken is not simply a matter of getting a new quarterback or hiring a new assistant coach. We need major changes. It is fair at this point to question whether Dabo is capable of doing what needs to be done, especially since he was unable at any point to see that this was our destination.

And roughly 40% of the ACC Championships, 2/3 of the Nattys, literally billions in added revenue to the school, the town, and the state, much of which financed those facilities you speak of, and nearly 25% of those 800 wins, all under the Dabo tenure.

You’re right, it sounds INSANE to even consider Dabo being “run off”. There’s only one issue, and that’s the reluctance to adapt fully to the modern game. Some are left to wonder where this thing is headed without fully using the portal and hiring bad coaches who can’t develop players properly.
Dabo was the king before the portal and NiL. It’s been his choice on how he’s handled it. You’re seeing the results play out in real time. And it’s very bad right now.
I hope he changes.

Yes, it’s his world so to speak. The decisions he makes will determine which direction the program goes. I can’t get a feel for what he will do. It seems like he has no choice but to fully attack the portal and trim the fat from the roster. That goes for the staff too. While there are some really good coaches, some don’t appear to be developing their rooms.
Clemson is a huge name brand program. Clemson will be fine whatever happens. Whether it’s Dabo adapting, or someone else taking over. Clemson will always be a blue blood. And we can thank Dabo for that.

What does that even sound like dude?
Dabo is in charge and if he refuses to adapt to today’s game that’s totally his choice to make? No matter how bad Clemson gets. If he chooses not to change, that’s OK. He’s won us two national championship so he has a lifelong contract?
No, that sounds idiotic. It is what have you you’ve done for me lately. And his refusal to adapt to today’s game is while we are where we are. We can all build a statue of him and that’s great. I still have a lot of things signed by him. We all remember Dabo as an elite coach. But just cause somebody used to be something doesn’t mean they always will be. And right now he is not a great coach.

I’d just like to say this is the best post I’ve seen on here in the last 5 years. And you sound like a real Tigers fan, and not like someone who started claiming Clemson fandom in, I don’t know, 2016? The only people that can be a “Fan” and not like Dabo, through good and bad, are the ones that claim he’s a whiner. It’s because he’s talking about yall! Bandwagoners, fair-weather fans, and those who have a bad memory. I’ve seen people who are on here criticizing the man for having faith in God and trusting His process… I mean come on people. I don’t like to watch a loss either, but this is a game, it’s supposed to be fun. And Dabo is the best coach in the history of Clemson football, not just because of what he’s done in the field, but because of the culture and mentality he’s installed there. Because of the development of the young men he’s responsible for.
I’m just asking all yall “fans” to take a breath before you tar and feather the man

I'm willing to give Dabo this season, no matter how bad it gets. However, there had better be major changes next season.

Hey, I love Dabo Swinney not thrilled about the offense coordinator. I don’t think the problem is Dabo. I think it’s the heart of the players they’re making this money. It is a job now players that come in from the portal have to prove themselves so they play with more heart our current players don’t wanna get hurt before the NFL draft and I wonder how many of them will skip out on a bowl if we make one.

Exactly. It’s hard to fathom the degree of self-importance (or delusion) it takes to conclude either Dabo or his boss are making decisions based on a fan forum.

Agree with you 100% on Dabo.
Completely disagree on Brownell. Those two aren’t even an apples oranges comparison. More like apples and hand grenades.

With the schedule we had last year and 2-5 the last seven. I at least wouldn’t have had a coach staff together of conn, Grisham, Richardson, spiller, Austin, a DC in Goodwin that had never coached on the field, L Hall a former teammate that like Conn had never coached in college. I sure as heck wouldn’t have given out scholarships to 10-12 players only because of their relation to people that played with or for me. All at a school coming off a bunch of national championship appearances. You do that at Duke, wake, Kentucky maybe, not at a top 5 school that you built not doing that.

Nobody is asking him to be run off. But the problem is for the last 5 years, the program has been trending down. Dabo is paid to win games and compete in the playoffs, not just make the playoffs or win the ACC.
Many of the non Dabo pumpers want the problems addressed. In case you don't see them, they would include: talent decreasing, nepotism of coaching staff, players playing who probably shouldn't be, no creativity on the offense, and the defense is no where comparable to any Venables defense.
Until these issues are actually addressed, I don't see the program getting better. I also don't see us being competitive as you say. You think this year is bad? Wait until next season, unless some serious talent is brought in through the transfer portal.

So you think that we can’t possibly get anything better than what we’ve had the last five years?
You think Dabo is going to get us back to the mountain top? You think he’s gonna get us more ACC championships?
Everyone has their opinion and I personally do not believe Dabo has what it takes anymore. And no, I’m not willing to bet on him to find out if he can get it done. With that being said, I don’t want him fired. So if he doesn’t wanna quit then we’re stuck with him. He’s earned that. We’ll just have to suck it up and deal with being mediocre for the next few years until he realizes he doesn’t have it anymore.
You can disagree with me all you want. But my opinion is, I think we should start fresh and see what a new guy can do. I’d rather try something else and fail and stick with what we know doesn’t work.

People wouldn't have near the problem with Dabo right now if he would just come out and say the cold hard truth, instead of the same ol responses he always gives. All he needs to say is something to the effect of, "this is unacceptable, changes will be made, this is not the Clemson standard, if these coaches don't wanna coach or players don't wanna play then I'll find someone who will." It's to much of a...."Yeahhh but my past, yeahhh but God's plan"

I’ve been playing golf all day and just read all 47 replies. We all know that 1-3 is absolutely unacceptable, but I feel we should let the head coach work it out. He’ll either work it out or he’ll be gone in a few years. Either way I’m not losing any sleep on it. Go Tigers!!! Let’s turn it around!!!

We'll all be losing sleep if we have to put up with a "few years" of this current mess. IMO, Dabo has to show dramatic change and improvement in 2026.

Na. Some of us still won’t lose sleep over it. It’s a game played by 18-22 year olds. The only time I have ever lost sleep over it is when we were spending a bunch of time traveling to post season games and enjoying the celebrations afterwards.

Pig… agree with your last post
Not a shot at all…but Your first post sounds vaguely familiar to the threat Dabo issued last Tuesday…. I’ll go somewhere else.. . Implying we would be screwed. I don’t believe Clemson would be screwed at all. I think Clemson is a very attractive destination for any coach. We should wish for something better than the garbage we’ve been seeing on the field the last nine or 10 games.
The ironic thing is, at this time, I don’t think Dabo could get a better job than Clemson. His stock is not that high outside of Clemson. Maybe a mid range team would be attracted but not a top-tier program. JMO…
At this time, both parties are stuck with each other, and I’m cool with that because I definitely believe he deserves time to get it fixed. But these issues have been going on now for almost 5 years. Unless a total implosion, I think he is very safe through 2026. Hopefully, he figures it out…. But we have a myriad of issues that is going to take some time to work out, and unfortunately, most of them cannot get fixed until after the season… In my opinion.

I want to play to win National Championships. I'm surprised that folks are happy with maybe an ACC championship and winning a few games and the sad thing is.....that plants the seed to just be okay. If you own a business are you okay if the nice folks make you enough cash to just get by or your kids do good enough in school to pass? No! Excellence hard work, success is the standard. I love Dabo for what he stands for what he's done and it's awesome that he has such a strong faith in God. He's got to do something different or in my opinion, time to move on. This is My Opinion Only!

Ok. We will take our chances. The college game is not the same anymore. A coach with fire and who is willing to use all the tools in the toolbox can come to Clemson and win 9/10 games. The ACC is better, but its not an annual gauntlet.

Past performance doesn't give you a free pass in the business world. Why should it in the world of college football?
His leash shouldn't be as short as unproven head coach; however, this notion that Dabo is untouchable is cult-like and not based in reality.

College football is very much part of the business world now. Therefore, there are no free passes. If Dabo refuses to adapt and continues to run the program of the ground for spite, he should be replaced. I really don’t like his comments about “y’all better be appreciative or I might go somewhere else.” That’s an ”us and them” mentality. That’s not “all in.”

I agree, wholeheartedly you can run the man off if you want, but it probably, and most likely will be the biggest mistake. They have ever made odds of finding another coach like him are slim to none. Just look at Alabama when they replaced Saban as good of a coach as Kalen Deboer is and it still isn’t near what it was before you don’t run Hall of Fame coaches off every time things don’t go right I still think he has earned the right to make changes on his own and should be given that opportunity unless he decides to take it upon himself to leave on his own and go somewhere else then you don’t have a choice but to start over
