What's the favorite gift you gave this year?

7

Dec 26, 2023, 6:46 PM

My brother's family flew from San Diego to visit his kids in Southern PA. I sent a favorite from my time in Chicago for the whole family to enjoy.

Portillo's Italian Beef Sandwich's for the whole family to enjoy. I ordered these shipped before and they taste as close as you can without actually being there.

Nice.
Gave my wife a framed news paper like article about how great she is. I heard the advertisement for it on the radio. You basically tell them about the person and they write the article.
Pretty cool.

We quit giving gifts. All kids are grown. No need to possibly put someone in a financial pinch. Instead of giving things we’re not sure if it will get used or taken to goodwill, We just get together and enjoy the time together.

Only children under age 18 get gifts in our family and its limited to one gift no more that $75.00. Sure reduce a lot of stress and strain.

First Edition Print of "The Old Man and the Sea" by Hemmingway

It is in very good condition, no folds and only slight yellowing of the pages. The binding and cover are in excellent condition, as if it had been read once, then stashed on a shelf. The original owner singed their name on the first page which took a good bit of value from it, along with the jacket being a reproduction. None the less, only 50k of these were printed over 70 years ago and the book is considered rare... I got it for a colleague.

Gave my wife a membership to Dr. Konstantin Frank’s wine club. Dr. Franks is a winery in Hammondsport NY in the Finger Lakes region that makes some really good white wines. When we lived in PA we went there a few times and it is definitely her favorite wine. With the club membership she gets 3 bottles of wine 4x per year at a 20% discount and free shipping. I done good.

Had a photo blanket made for my wife. We've been together almost 25 years and she is animal lover. So all tbe animals(past and present) are on the blanket. Our daughter (17) is in a few of the photos. Yep my wife cried! Always a good sign with a gift.

Boiled peanuts to my teen granddaughter. I boiled and packaged them, and she squealed with joy when she saw them. Ate one package of them immediately and all of them by the end of the day!!
