1. He didn't say the park was in South Carolina. He said "the park", which clearly implies the park in California.
2. He didn't say the graveyard had anything to do with the name. He just said it furthered the motif, which it does. Whether intentional or not, having a graveyard fits the theme of "Death Valley".

Clemson? Especially considering it had nothing to do with the coining of the term for Memorial Stadium. Either way lazy and shoddy reporting. The term was coined by PC's head coach during the 40's after many whoopings at the hands of the tigers. No it doesn't further "the motif", because the road victory graveyard has no relation to Death Valley. The road victory graveyard tradition started in 1989. It was in reaction and for motivation for the punt rooskie loss to FSU in 88, when FSU took either a piece of sod or grass for a tradition they had for beating teams on the road. After easily beating FSU in 89, we erected our first top 25 road victory gravestone. You sir do not know your Clemson history.
