Mini golf or putt putt?

I think these modern mini golf courses have really jumped the shark. Par 4s and 5s on some holes, way overdone architecture, etc.
Would love to see these gone and replaced with the original putt-putt courses. Orange rails, simple design, 18 holes, each a par 2. Am I the only one?

I play golf regularly and try to stay off those courses lol. Totally different feel especially with the rubber headed putters and whatever type golf balls they use. One thing about the older putt putt set up was there seemed to be a hole in one opportunity on every hole where as these new ones seem to be more luck than skill. They used to have some sort off putt putt tour on tv occasionally and that was fun to watch those guys/gals play…Really good.

Take your own putter and ball. I don't like those places though either.

if i see someone bring their own putter to a putt-putt course, i think i'd have to laugh. i think it's ridiculous to take your own clubs to top golf. but, your own putter and ball to play putt-putt?!?! hahaha.. it's just a fun lil game to play w/ ya kids, or friends if you're still young. that'd be like the locals that race at greenville-pickens speedway taking their fire retardant suits and helmet to frankie's go-cart track.. haha..
unless you were kidding..

I thought I was really cool until I took it into Bill's Bar one night about 30 years ago, when I was just out of school. Lesson learned. I wonder where that thing is now.

I have taken my own putter to play putt putt. I have only been to top golf once and it was for a christmas party so I didnt think to take my clubs. I dont really drink so its pretty much a driving range for me, I would have no problem taking my own clubs in.

I play in some Top Golf leagues most everyone brings their own clubs. If you are in there wanting to work on your swing at least swing what you are going to play with. I have also taken my own putter to play putt puttbut a real putter in combo with there golf balls does not work lol. It is fun and I do enjoy it occasionally.

Putt Putt was founded in Fayetteville, NC by a fellow named Don Clayton. When we lived in the area back in the 1980's, my wife worked at the bank Clayton used. Every time he came in he would give her a handful of "Free Game" coupons. Got my fill of it.
They used to put on some televised tournaments up there with big money on the line.

would say. "He has to consider the heat and how it will bounce off of the rail."
"He's in the shade and the temp has changed plus there is a slight breeze."
"Half the carpet is in the shade. That'll play havoc on his shot."

The standardized Putt-Putt courses were great once you learned the shots for a hole-in-one for each hole. So long as the side rails aren’t loose. Doink.

Putt putt. Mini golf would insinuate more than just a putter.
