"take a flyer" meaning
Mar 6, 2015, 12:36 PM
|
|
take a flyer phrase of flier
1. North American take a chance.
It basically means, they are giving him a chance ... in Football, its like "we know the guy has POTENTIAL" .... let's give him a shot

This is a much better QB situation than with the Jets... I hopefully he makes the 53-man roster and is able to play and learn behind a Super Bowl winning QB.

This could not have worked out better. I must admit I'm a Steeler fan, so I'm biased, but Tajh has landed at a great organization in a strong football city. They have a deep roster full of outstanding talent, and are well coached. Personally, I'd love to see him become the heir apparent to Big Ben! I believe he has what it takes.

So he may get injured a time or two this season, would love to see Tajh play! As a Ravens fan I wish he didn't play for my rivals, but at least I'll get to watch him more often.

Great Situation for Tajh
Mar 6, 2015, 2:36 PM
|
|
He already plays like Roethlisberger and the Steelers are an organization that is willing to be patient with player and let them grow into their own, unlike the jet where the were constantly trying to find their #1 QB.

I agree about the Jets deal for sure. There has been plenty of times after the way the Jets really didn't give Tajh a fair or long enough chance. Even though Rex had good intentions, it was a mistake by him drafting Tajh. I think that he should have let Tajh become a free agent, and maybe some other team with a system closer to what we played would have picked him up. Tajh had already had a ton of pressure on him when the draft come up by all the crap talk by Pauline and others had talked about him. The only way Tajh would have had any chance to make it, would have been with a team with that had time patience to allow Tajh to regain his confidence back after all the bad luck he was having before the actual draft. Now that he has played in that trail league, I think he has a better chance at making it at Pittsburgh than he had with the Jets. I surely don't believe that Tajh was the worst QB on the Jets team regardless of what their GM thought.

The Jets have the worst qb play in the league. Sorry, but if TB couldn't even get to a point where he could compete with those 2, cracking the rotation in Pitt is #### near impossible. Landry Jones is their #3. He not only has prototype tools, he also has a 3 year head start on how to play qb in nfl (i.e. reading a defense).
This is a nice opportunity for Tajh and any of us would kill just to go to camp, but let's not make it more than it is - a fun experience that he will remember for the rest of his life.
Enjoy it big guy! Not many get the opportunity you have in front of you!

Mike Tomlin , like Tajh Boyd is a Tidewater kid . If I'm not mistaken they are both from Hampton . This is a good deal for me and I pray that it works out for all concerned , because Steelers fan since birth !

Who knows... Boyd could be the next Charlie Batch.... which evolved to one of the most respected back up quarterbacks in the league. Could happen or even something better.

I know this is Tajh's dream, and I am pulling for him like rest of the Tiger nation. Can't find any details if this type of signing actually carries any money for him.
