I started a new job last week and

Jun 25, 2014, 5:13 PM

I worked my tail off. I gave it everything I could but I don't think the supervisor cares for me. It sucks. I'm super polite and it almost seems like it bugs him. Sounds wierd but true. I can honestly say the I worked harder last week than any week in many years and I still felt like I fell short.

I got back Friday but this time I'm just gonna keep to myself and keep working hard. It's really sad when the people you work for lack personality to the point that simply saying good morning feels awkward.

I really havnt worked a lot of jobs. Always either been military or one other place and I go out of my way to ask folks how they r doing and I pitch in every chance I get. I think it's a positive and a negative. I was working hard the other day and other people were just sitting around talking and watching me.

I'm sure some if you handle things like this well. I envy you. Wish I did.

You're a highly trained killing machine. ALWAYS play to your strengths.

Lol. I don't think killing the boss would help me. Might make me feel better but ....

Killing is the reason people give up everything to come to

Jun 25, 2014, 5:27 PM

The way to go. I'm pretty sure I'd get fired and my bills might get a little out of hand then. I kinda hoped someone might have some less violent advice lol.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

OK...I'm out then. Off to the Ice Bar.

Jun 25, 2014, 5:30 PM

In the third world. Traveling through the jungle on the back of an elephant with our Eskimo guide, it's tough to consistently find a village of teepees that has wireless access.

Jun 26, 2014, 8:41 AM

I work in manufacturing. Just a plant worker . I shouldn't say where exactly. It might just make things harder . With my luck, my supervisor comes on here everyday lol.

You know, it's funny. I was brought up to work hard. Plants or businesses pay you to work. They invest a dollar amount hoping to get a return on that investment when they pay you. So I go to work everyday and bust my ### to earn every cent. I'm grateful to have a decent job to help support my family. And it's sad when some people spend their time just trying to cheat the system and see how little they can get away with doing for what I make or more. And some bosses let them because they r all buddies.

I guess I don't see it that way. To me that's not honest. So I go give all I have so I have my self respect and hopefully earn the respect of my coworkers through kindness and sweat. I have been that way my whole life. Unfortunately I just suck at the political side of things. Or whatever it's called.

It was 98 degrees or so the other day and I worked so hard I had to keep fluids in me because sweat was pouring off me and u could wring out my shirt but I kept working. I worked harder that most of the veterans and got way more done. I'm proud to say I earned what I was paid but I'm not one of the buddies so.....

But it's all good I guess. I don't miss days, I'm always early and I work my ### off. I'm sure if this place falls through, somewhere I'll find a place that really needs that kinda effort and it'll be a good fit . So, I'm going back tomorrow which is my next scheduled day and I'm gonna work even harder. That way even if I fail to fit in, I'll know I gave it my best and I can live with that.

Go tigers!

As someone who supervises manufacturing workers

Jun 26, 2014, 8:49 AM [ in reply to Re: What do you do??*** ]

we don't really want to be overly friendly with you the first year or two, makes it harder to fire you if you're bad at your job. Keep your head down, prove you're a good, dependable worker and listen more than you talk.

I'd have to agree. All I can do is work hard and keep to myself.

Be on time and make sure your name doesn't show up on any scrap/quality reports.

You'd be surprised how rare it is to find a new worker that actually shows up on time and not high/drunk.
