With PJ Hall potentially not going to the NBA...

I hope recruits don't start asking what went wrong with his development at Clemson. PJ is a great player, and even great players don't always make it to the pros, but I have to wonder if he would have made it this year under different circumstances. And while I do think he'll end up in the NBA next season, the last thing a team like Clemson needs right now, especially when they are only a win or two away from making the NCAA Tournament, is to earn a reputation for poor player development. Hopefully this doesn't become a bigger issue.

Brads record of putting people in the nba is Legendary. The Nick Saban of college basketball. The pinnacle, the man who can get you right into the nba.

and reportedly would have been losing PT to lower rated role players?
The bitter pill for a young person such as Ben, he gave up his Sr year in HS for the man that could not in turn develop him. Not once, but twice when Bradball struck out in the portal.
Ben was a reclassified beg from Bradball, then CBB changed his tune and then again. How many times can you disappoint a young person with indecision and poor follow through before they find the door?
I'm glad Brad was painted into a corner by media and admitted the goal is the NC2A. If so 3 in 13 demands an accountability check, because there is none where that would pass any other P5 in the nation?
I hope Ben can forgive Clemson for Brad's shortcomings. If not, no good can come of it.

How ironic will it be if Middlebrooks ends up being the key to saving Clemson basketball? He just may end up being the needed piece to NC State beating Clemson next year, which in turn can be pointed to as the missing "win or two" that Clemson needs for the 11th time out of last 14 seasons, and is finally the breaking point for Neff to not imagine that Clemson is a tournament team next year. Middlebrooks may go down in history as a hero of Clemson basketball!

Maybe Middlebrooks just isn't that good. It was for a lack of trying on the part of Brownell. Middlebrooks has an inflated view of his talent. In the famous words of Rick Barnes, Middlebrooks is just "five more hard fouls".

of shortcomings in program development, galvanized by 3 of 13[the goal] and historically bad losses...

With the mountain of evidence against, it seems to once again fall in Bradball's lap and that's not even getting into the about faces CBB pulled in getting the young man to reclassify.

I agree Ben improved quite a bit over the last season. I would have liked to have seen some "big" lineups next season with him and PJ in the game at the same time. PJ could have worked on expanding his outside game a bit more with another big man under the basket.

talented kid that was not physically mature enough for the rigors of D1/ACC.
He should have been a RS or not asked to reclassify, a year of his eligibility blown because of it.
As for allowing PJ to slide out with BM holding mid, agree and it seems to have been the plan, which is now lost to the portal.
According to some, "he might not have been good enough" and/or "2, ~6'7", 3* [Godfrey-sChief = neither Cs] were the reason his minutes were in jeopardy", and the excuses for him leaving. After throwing away a year to help a shorthanded Bradball team, under-developed and misled seem generous.

PJ has had a broken foot and a dislocated knee cap. He has not had a year at Clemson when he has been fully healthy. When he was healthy late in the season, he showed what he can do. I think he is going to have a big year. Player development is not an issue at Clemson -- look up Hunter Tyson, first-team All-ACC. Brad Brownell recruit. Give it a rest.

Brownell recruited him. So that sounds like bad recruiting or poor judgement on BB's part to me.

What percent of Brad’s players have received any kind of post season recognition, made the NBA, or played professional basketball at any level? I’d bet he’s one of the 5 worst coaches in the ACC over his cumulative 13 seasons. And I don’t mean just the bottom 1/3 of the current 15. I mean of all the coaches that have come and gone in those 13 seasons he’d be bottom 5. He’s very likely the worst. If we cared about the student athletes who come to play basketball for Clemson we’d move on from Brad. He isn’t concerned about their education and he doesn’t develop them as players.

Hopefully this doesn't become a bigger issue.
guessing the fact that pj has been injured and had 2 surgeries pretty much back to back has had nothing to do with his development. if he stays healthy this year he will prove that he has nba talent because of the development he will make by coming back.

Yeah. It’s apparently obvious to me that if he were to have gone somewhere with a legit coach, he would’ve been at least a couple years more along developmentally than he is currently being at Clemson. I could really see P.J. playing anywhere he wanted to.
