Miami Hotel Suggestions

Dec 8, 2015, 12:27 PM

Looking for some hotel suggestions for the Orange Bowl. I'd like something not super luxury, super expensive (I'd like to save at least a little money for a possible Arizona trip) but it's me and my 14 year old and my wife would prefer I bring our son back in one piece so not too shady/scary would be preferred. :) Any suggestions/thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Go Tigers!!

looking in the West Palm Beach, Boynton Beach, and Boca Raton/Deerfield Beach areas.

It's a little further north (30 to 45 minutes from Miami) but you're likely to find better rates and more availability.

Everything in Deerfield, Pompano, Hollywood, Miami Lakes, and Hialeah was either booked, required a three night minimum, was non-refundable or upwards of $250 per night

Sometimes good things fall apart so better things can fall together.

You can try Ft. Lauderdale/Plantation. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn there before, and it's fine. There may be a two night minimum though. I think the Hampton Inn Ft. L/Plantation also had some availability, and it's close to the stadium too.

Don't take your 14 year old to south beach!!! Stadium is a long way from Miami. I prefer north of the city like ft laud or palm beach cheaper too. No bargains however

Ocean Front, nice rooms, nice views, and only 30 mins away from the stadium.

For those of you that have never been to Sunlife stadium for a game, always keep in mind that it is NOT in Miami, but rather Miami Gardens! People always treat Miami like they do NYC (saying you're there when you're actually an hour away).

If you stay in Miami Beach (South Beach) for instance, without traffic it takes 45 minutes to get to the stadium. From Fort Lauderdale, 30 minutes without traffic. Also keep in mind that south Florida is one of the hottest NYE destinations in the world so expect a hefty price tag. Anything above 3 stars that isn't in the middle of nowhere or a seedy area is going to be $300+ per night.

If you want to save money but not sacrifice safety and distance, stay out west (Davie, Weston, Plantation, even Pembroke Pines). You won't find any 5-star hotels out there but you won't break the bank or be at a bathsalt-riddled hostel either.

See attached for your best deal. I recommend using Hotwire and aiming for the areas I've stated above. 4-stars for this rate is a steal considering the ones along the sand are starting st $350/night for 12/31-1/3.

Good luck!
