Miami, GT, Duke, and UVA

Those are the ones I see that are in the way
Assuming Clemson goes 6-2
Current standings
*Clemson’s conference opponents winning percentage
- Conference opponents: 25-17 record.
0.595%
*Miami conference opponents winning percentage
- Conference opponents: 24-19 combined record.
0.558%
*UVA conference opponents winning percentage
- Conference Opponents: 25-19 combined record
0.568%
Duke
- Needs one loss other than Clemson.
- Plays GT on 10/18
Georgia Tech
- Needs 3 losses
- Beat Clemson
- Plays GT 10/18
Miami
- Needs 2 losses, 3 to be safe.
- Looking at Miami’s ACC schedule and Clemson’s, I think conference opponents’ combined winning percentage might be in favor of Clemson. That criteria is held higher than the ranking of the 2 teams.
**Clemson could very well be over Miami if they both are 6-2. With that criteria.
Virginia
- Needs 2 losses, 3 to be safe
- In a tie with Virginia, it could come down to common opponents or something else.
- But we’ve got a chance for that too
Look like the most likely would be UVA losing twice, Duke losing some games including Clemson, and hope for a Miami or GT screw up
Miami and GT are the biggest obstacles.

By missing the ACCCG, not taking a 4th L there, and getting in as an at-large if we run the table. Obviously winning the CG is the only guarantee, but that is basically out at this point.
Just beat BC. That’s all that matters.

Our games, but do so in convincing fashion.
We need to blow out just about everyone and get folks talking about the Clemson turnaround.
We also need FSU and especially South Carolina to win out so our victories over them are that much more impressive.
A blowout road win over a hot South Carolina team could put us in the playoff if a little chaos happens. It already seems to be taking place weekly.

There is a 0% chance that a 3-loss ACC team makes the CFP as an at-large.

A solid Miami team absolutely blowing a massive lead to Syracuse on the final day of the regular season to send us to the title game.

But you must understand how this works.
When the season is over, the two teams with the best records play each other for the championship.
If Syracuse had beaten Miami in September, you wouldn’t even talk about it.

I don't think you understand the word "context" or how it works.
They didn't play in September. And Miami DID have a big lead that they blew. It was a miracle, and the tigers took advantage of the opportunity given by fran brown.
If it was some run of the mill ho-hum game Dabo wouldn't mention Fran Brown by name and say something along the lines of "if we pull it off and win the title, fran brown will be in the car next to me during the parade"

Clemson earned the spot by having one of the 2 best conference records at the end of the season.
Not a miracle.

You guys have to be watching a different Clemson team than I have through 5 games! This team isn’t winning out with the ACC schedule ahead.

It’s unbelievable that people are posting things like this.
It’s unbelievable that one unimpressive win over one of the 5 worst teams in the power 4 has brought this type of optimism back.
Yall… let it go… it’s not happening.
We have multiple more losses coming.
All this team showed Saturday is we’re better than one of the 5 worst in the power 4.
That game had much more to do with how bad UNC is rather than some great improvement by Clemson.
Go back and watch the tape of the game. UNC is flat out awful. I mean downright awful and now we got real human beings posting about… this is what we need to make the ACC title game lol.
We aren’t that Clemson anymore and haven’t been for a long time. We’re a middle of the road ACC team that’s going to struggle just to reach bowl eligibility.
That’s what people should be asking or posting… are we going to make a bowl bc that’s a legit question.

All I did was lay everything out basically. And give a broad overview of the path Clemson needed.
I was bored. I just laid the facts out.

The ‘Team X needs to lose Y games’ scenarios are tricky.
Duke plays GA Tech at home on Oct 18. They play UVA on Nov 15th. Duke must win vs UVA and lose vs GA Tech … both must happen … because the other ACC games in their schedule (other than Clemson) are sure wins I.e., Wake and UNC.
UVA has one ACC loss already (NC State). No other losses. Their potential ‘loss’ games are Duke, Cal, and VA Tech (because VA Tech is a rivalry game). Duke is their most dangerous remaining opponent. If UVA beats Duke, then they very well might finish their ACC season with just one loss.
Miami’s out-of-conference schedule (and record against those opponents) is far superior to ours. Beat N.Dame and FL (which, in light of FL beating TX, makes Miami’s win over FL more impressive).
GA Tech has a Charmin-esque schedule remaining with the exception of Duke and Pitt. (Pitt is nothing special, but they have a pulse.) Just can’t see them losing more than two games.
Getting to ACC Championship game will be a longer shot than it was last year. Just don’t see us making the playoffs unless we run the table (which means beating S.Carolina this time).

UVA does not have a conference loss. They are 3-0 in ACC play.
Their game against NCSU was out of conference - they scheduled that in addition to the ACC slate.

I really think people think this is going to be a 2023 Tyler comeback run again. They are going to be disappointed. We are two more years into the decline of the program under Dabo. This was supposed to be his best team in 3-4 years. Next year will be really bad unless things drastically change.
