is in the books . . . while we played our best round of the tournament today (-1 as a Team), it was way too little . . . way too late . . . to do us any good . . . we finished 9th out of 12 Teams . . . not at all what we had hoped for . . .
Kudos to Andrew Swanson . . . -4 today . . . -1 for the Tournament . . . AND . . . Our ONLY Tiger to shoot Par or Better for the Tournament . . . He ended up T-14th Place . . .
Was sooooo hoping for a strong showing to give us a slight chance to play in the Regional we are hosting . . . with this showing, we do not deserve that opportunity.

Getting some guys that could shoot under par consistently would be of a bigger help. Need to recruit some talent. Hoping this is just a bump in the road.

just how good they really are (below via Clemgalalways® in an earlier thread)
*** CLEMSON, S.C. — Head Coach Jordan Byrd announced the addition of Will Baker (Statham, Ga./Prince Avenue Christian School) on Wednesday. Baker signed a letter of intent to play for the Tigers beginning in the fall of 2023.
“Will Baker will add so much more to our team than his very accomplished golf resume,” said Byrd. “Will is a fun-loving young man with a huge smile that enjoys life, but loves any competition. Others are drawn to him and will be an absolute joy to coach. Will has a big-time game and is an outstanding putter. He is only scratching the surface of how good he can be, but the best attribute will be his attitude about life and golf. He will add to our culture and make everyone around him better.”
Baker has previously been a two-time American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) champion, including the 2021 Carolina Trace Open champion. He has also been named a Harold Varner III Foundation Junior All-Star. He finished top five at the Bobby Chapman Invitational and took a top 10 finish at the Team TaylorMade Invitational.
Baker was one of six high schoolers to play in the 2022 U.S. Amateur Championship. He led his high school to back-to-back state championships in 2021 and 2022. Baker was ranked as the 66th best player in the country.
*** CLEMSON, S.C. — Calahan Keever (Greenville, S.C./Eastside), the No. 6 Division II golfer in the nation by Golfstat, will transfer to Clemson for the 2023-24 academic year. Clemson Head Coach Jordan Byrd made the announcement on Wednesday.
“We are excited to be adding such an experienced player to our team,” said Byrd. “Calahan is a high character player who just keeps improving each and every week.”
Keever is one of the reasons Anderson University is ranked as the No. 1 Division II team in the nation by the Golf Coaches Association. For the year, he has a 70.28 stroke average for his six tournaments and 18 rounds. His 2022-23 season has included nine rounds in the 60s, 11 under-par rounds and 13 total rounds at par or better.
Keever’s season included establishing a pair of Anderson University golf records. He set the school mark for 54-hole score when he had a 17-under-par 199 in winning the LMU Spring Kickoff in February. His final round nine-under-par 63 broke the school record for one round by three shots.
Keever, finished in a tie for first place at the Mizuno Intercollegiate to open the season when he had a then-school-record 206 for the three rounds. He lost in a playoff. Overall, Keever has four top 10s and five top 15 finishes in six events this year in helping Anderson to four team victories this year.
Just last weekend, Keever might have had his best performance when he finished third at the Azalea Amateur in Charleston, an amateur tournament with a national field. Keever had rounds of 68-64-70-72 for a 274 total for his four rounds.
Keever attended Eastside High School in Greenville, S.C. where he also lettered in football and basketball.
Jonathan Byrd’s Son (Jackson ???) is on our radar for a few years from now . . . Jackson is good friends with Matt Kuchar’s son, but I’m assuming he will go to GT like his Dad . . . but I wish they would BOTH come to TIGERTOWN!!!

Thanks @skeeta56. Just a bump in the road. We got caught up in the covid year that didn't do us favors in the long run. Cottam and Colby came back etc and the guys, less Zack didn't get PT.
Andrew Swanson has had 2 top 3 finishes and won individual in 3 of our tournaments. He'll be a good one next year. Finished 14th in acc tournament. Our leader. Sophomore
Jonathan Nielsen came in 23rd and has flashed all year. He'll give us some good rounds next year. His game is consistent. Usually won't go low, but won't go high either. You need that.
Thomas Higgins, freshman that can flat out make birdies but his aggressive approach and inconsistencies has kept him out of the lineup. Still, with just a little improvement and consistency, will be a great 4 or 5 spot.
Couple those with the two Skeeta56 explained, along with Kian (rs sophomore) and Alberto we should be good.
This spring, and a couple tourneys in the fall we made plenty of birdies but just as many bogeys and double bogeys that killed our scoring.
