Don't you know for the great ones, we start recruiting them in middle school? Case in point, Watson. Coach Morris went to every basketball game DW had since 8th grade, not to mention the football games. Gotta establish a relationship with these guys.

For 2023, Jarvis Green and Jamarius Haynes are not top 50 running backs in their class, per 247Sports. Green is barely in the top 1000 overall prospects, and Haynes is not.
For 2024, David Eziomume is at least a top 40 running back, but he is not elite or even close to it based on the consensus in football recruiting.
This isn't all on CJ though. It's also up to Grisham (recruiting coordinator) and Dabo (head coach) to recruit better running backs, since they are all heavily involved in the process.
I'm sure you will just say that the top RBs are scared of competition at Clemson, so we shouldn't expect a top RB here for at least another couple of years.

Why recruit when you can just grab other teams 3rd or 4th best guards in the portal and stick wherever you have a hole. $3 million can get you a coach but not one who gives a Shyatt.

Jamarius Haynes
Recorded 251 carries for 2,669 yards and 37 touchdowns in 24 games from 2021-22, averaging an incredible 10.6 yards per carry across those two seasons.
Posted 1,888 yards on just 177 carries (10.7 avg.) and scored 27 touchdowns as a senior in 2022.
Speed to spare - runs below 12 for the 100.
It aint all about the "stars" beside a name.

I am underwhelmed by our RBs hee has gotten to sign their LOI for us. Yet I see great things in 2025. It may take time to develop that relationship, but we have high interest in two of the top 3 RBs in '25
