LSU Question

If LSU had 4 OLs taken in the first 5 draft rounds, why did they not have better than a 4.1 YPC? Was LSU's Achilles Heel run blocking - or lack of RB talent?
This sounds a lot like some past Clemson OLs - good pass protection, but not very good on the run, but last year's Clemson results were 5.1YPC.
With Clemson returning last year's OL with considerably more experience than LSU's retooled OL, there should be a large difference in run success if the 2 defenses are equal - which I don't believe to be true. I think Clemson has the advantage on the O-line and D-line as well.
Where I see what may be an LSU advantage is in WRs, LBs and DBs and (cough> punting - but to utilize the advantage in those areas requires a successful OL - something it would appear that they likely won't have. Clemson should be able to control the game, provided the defensive front (whatever it is) can get pressure on Nussmeier.
The matchups in this game will be extremely interesting and I believe Clemson will win by moe than 2 scores.... ">">">">

I agree with everything except the conclusion. I don't think we win by two scores. I think we win, but it will be close.

I don't know the answer, but am sure LSU will have a very talented OL. My hope is that they are not playing as a cohesive group as it is their first game playing together. We fans need to be loud to do whatever we can to disrupt them, even if they are using silent count.

According to a Beat Writer from Louisianasports.com, the Practices that the media was allowed to observe, the Running Backs have Struggled. I also read that LSU Spent an Entire Practice Period working on an assortment of Screen Plays (Bubble, Tunnel, etc.,Misdirection, shovel passes, Direct Snaps to the Upback and Reverses.Gettheir Playmakers in Space. As he put it,"Give Them Room To Roam."

With our O line mostly being our weakest link for so many years, it's hard saying it could be a strength for us anyway way we word it.

You nailed it. We are woefully thin at HB compared to the normal standard at LSU. Caden Durham kind of broke out as the go to guy, but I believe most LSU fans would say he's not the caliber of Jeremy Hill, Guice, D Williams, Fournette, etc. Josh Williams was all heart and a major contributor, but he wasn't the kind of workhorse back you need in the SEC either.
And to your point, the team could not run block. We run the same stupid QB read run play out of shotgun regardless of down and distance. Problem is, you have a QB who is no threat to run.
If you watch LSU since Brian Kelly us trying to pickup a 3rd and short or 4th and short (minus Jayden Daniels) is abysmal. Florida State stopped us like 8 times on the 1 yard line 2 years ago first drive of the game with that all-world OL you just mentioned.
