Someone on the radio said that Nealon Greene was better than Klubnik.

Hard to argue with that. Nealon was really good. He really would’ve flourished in a better offensive scheme, especially since we had some good receivers then like Tony Horne, Antuan Wyatt, and Larry Ryans.

Ouch. Poor Louis was perhaps the least talented QB I have watched play in the last 50 years at CU.

Think he even overlapped with Brian Wofford, Mal Lawyer, Justin Watts, and Rod Gardner.
Lots of weapons on the outside after the ground and pound with Emory Smith and Raymond Priester.
Also had one hell of a D Coordinator in Reggie Herring..... Just as intense as BV, but he cursed like a sailor which is why Tommy Bowden ended up getting rid of him. Every other word out of his mouth was a cuss word, but he was one hell of a LB and D Coordinator.

defenses for is playing GREAT on 1st and 2nd downs, getting teams into 3rd and 26, and then giving up a 27 yard play for a first down. Over and over again, rinse and repeat.

That was the Ford twins' fault.... Brian Dawkins and Dexter McCleon couldn't cover the whole field themselves.

Reggie has coached forever in the NFL and college.
He was a great coach.
He was pretty clear that he was getting the players the offense didn't want.
There's no way to have a great defense when your CB and safety suck because they are the slow players the offense didn't want.

Uh.. no. Our OLs back then were much better. Klubnik is a heck of a talent. Let’s get an outside threat at WR and an OL that can block somebody and see what we have.

Nealon was a great representative of Clemson, under Tommy West- during a forgotten era known as the 'dark ages' of Clemson football.
However, for anyone who thinks Nealon was better than Cade Klubnick while at Clemson, I humbly suggest they watch the 1996 Syracuse v Clemson bowl game with Donovan McNabb as Syracuse's QB and Nealon as Clemson's.

Fair point. Nealon also played 4 years to get those stats- and, as I've said, was a fantastic ambassador for Clemson before playing a # of years in the CFL.
However, I would point out that- 8 games into this year- Cade has already exceeded any/every individual year of Nealon Greene's passing statistics except for Nealon's Senior year.
Cade this year: https://www.espn.com/college-football/player/gamelog/_/id/4685413/cade-klubnik Nealon's Career: https://www.sports-reference.com/cfb/players/nealon-greene-1.html
It is worthy of note that Nealon did/will likely outrush Cade each year (including the 6 games he played as Freshman!) and (again) that Nealon did so during the Tommy West era.
Here's hoping Cade continues to progress!
