Losing my confidence...

Never really thought too much about realignment of conferences until Texas and Oklahoma made the surprise move to the SEC. At that point I wondered if the ACC was really the best place for us. We USC and UCLA bailed on PAC12, I knew we would need to make a move at some point. Then when the new TV deals were announced and distribution amounts to each school were disclosed, it became obvious to everyone, for us to stay competitive and compete for championships there would be only two options, SEC or B1G.
Never once did I doubt we would have a place to go until today...I am genuinely concerned we may be blocked out of both conferences. Looking back at last week and the antics of FSU, I get the feeling they were feeling the same way and were completely panicking.
Between the horrible GOR deal and allowing ND voting rights, it seems to me several very bad deals were signed off on by past administrators and now our future hangs in the balance.
Unless Sankey is bluffing, it sure seems like the SEC is content with their current membership. It doesn't appear the B1G isn't in any hurry now that they have the West coast locked down. I really hope there is some serious wheeling and dealing being down in the shadows by Neff and Clements.
I would have to think our position will be used against us in recruiting which is the immediate concern, hopefully the 2024 class stays intact.
If there was ever a year we needed to make a run for a championship, this is it. If we can at the very least get into the CFP, I have to think our ability to leverage the B1G vs. the SEC becomes a real negotiating tool.
I am now pounding on my keyboard!!!! Let's Go Tigers!!! We need a monster 2023 season!

I feel about the same, but I have loved Clemson since I was 10 years old, 61 years ago. And besides my immediate family, I haven't felt love for anything else as long as I have for Clemson, and I'm worried almost sick about the future of our Tigers and praying that we land in a spot deserving of our Clemson Tigers sports programs. And it does anger me that our administration "has to be" so hush, hush about what they're trying to get worked out for the survival sports programs.
Also IMHO, Clemson should have severed any loyalty to the ACC the very day they added an additional 1 year penalty to the 2 year penalty that we were given by the NCAA. If we would have applied for the SEC back then after we served our probation, we would have been a member of the SEC, and the coots would have never been invited to join the SEC. They would probably still been a private school, or in bottom feeder conference where they belong, and I'm sure the SEC regrets ever letting them in the SEC....

I can agree w you regarding that additional year of probation from the conference. We would have been well within our rights to have done so and almost certainly better off if we had.

It could be worse I mean it’s not like Rutgers as a more secure future than us . I mean that would be just silly .

My feeling is that Clemson and Miami are "teaming up" behind the curtains to leave the ACC as a pair, as AD's Radakovich and Neff are tight.(Remember that Rad hired Neff at Clemson...) Thusly, FSU is kicking up dirt and squawking for attention so they don't get left out of any expansion invites.

Dan Radakovich was a terrible AD who hurt every sport he touched (other than maybe soccer). Dabo and the football program appeared immune from his taint until we realize the potential impact of the GOR. DRad was our AD for both the original and the extension. Neff was an associate AD (of Finance no less) when the GOR and its extension were signed. Clements was present for the GOR extension. I would suggest we purge those who were responsible for the worst decision in the University’s history rather than believe DRad knows some path out of the bs he created.

I agree to a point but not regarding recruiting.

Kids aren't planning on being around long enough to worry about realignment like fans. Many of them are looking, simply, to pay for their education and many have NFL hopes and only a few years to see them play out.
Either way, we don't recruit kids who aren't focused, talented, intelligent and willing to work toward a degree while developing their skills. Sure, everyone will take a NIL agreement but seldom do we recruit a kid who is willing to sell himself to the highest bidder.
Having other schools lavish a player with money probably help Dabo cull the herd.

It appears the addition of both Cal and Stanford is imminent and SMU is a high likelihood. Will they all be required to sign the GOR like everyone else good through 2036? I know they are very desperate but is that even a good move for them? Does this then lock them out of any B1G expansion down the road?

Good news. At some point the SEC will expand to match the Big Ten.
Bad news. It will likely br north Carolina and Virginia

There’s nothing out there that should make you lose confidence. Nothing. As already said billions of times, Dabo has told you where this is going. Believe him.
