Looney Toon memories of Johnstone HiJinx?

We didn't get all that rowdy in the halls, but I do remember a bowling tourney in the F4 hall where we almost broke the end out of the building. It was only thin tin, after all. The tile floor actually made a pretty good bowling surface.

You couldn't push the bed frame up against the wall because it was bashed in. It must of happened the year or two before and they never fixed it.
At lease they installed curtains on the toilet stalls. Good times...

Contests to see which floor had the biggest cockroach. Pinned it to the hall bulletin board as proof.

I remember that you could see daylight through the wall panels where the seams were bowing out from one another. Johnstone D was next door abandoned by then and we used to "urban explore" to see what stuff was left behind.

Our next door neighbor on D4 lost his iguana in 82. Surprised it didn't attack you.

The floor was just as slippery as ice when it was wet. Body checking was discouraged because, as you pointed out, the walls were so thin. Of course, it happened anyway and often.
"Penny" someone in their room or lean a trash can full of water up against the door, knock loudly and run.
Good times.

Someone took a door off and put it across the community shower opening. We stuffed towels around the edges and made a steam bath pool with all of the shower heads turned on. Back in the day of community showers.

Back in the early to mid 1970’s, the old quad had become a giant hole in the ground to make way for the new quad & student union. B-5 became a major pathway to get to Harcombe & the canteen.
During this time, a feud developed between C-5 & B-5. I am not sure how this began, C-5 residents would pass thru B-5 at all hours of the day & evening pounding on the doors & walls as they walked down the hall. There was even an instance of lighter fluid being squirted under the door & ignited.
After a few weeks of this, B-5ers had had enough. So, late one evening, a few of the residents took several boxes of Tide over to community shower on C-5, dumped the contents of the boxes on the shower floor & turned on the hot water from all of the shower heads, and quickly made their way back to B-5.
The next morning, soap suds were filling the hallway & coming out the doors at the end.
After that, there was no more pounding on the walls.
P.S. I also remember doors getting the “penny” treatment.

I recall during my Soph or Junior year, someone did that to the reflection pond behind the amphitheater.
The fountains really helped bubble-up and spread the suds.

We did the penny treatment in dorm 10. Also did the 55 gallon tilted barrel thing to the person voted hall sh*t.

I lived in the F annex in 1986.
All of the doors "rattled" in their doorframes. Sure they locked when closed, but they were very loose in the frames. Several of us, all of whom lived on the hall, ticked off one of the girlfriends, probably making some stupid and/or rude comments during a hall party.
Well.....that girlfriend, and some of her friends, came back very early in the morning and tied rope around each doorknob, and tied each to the doorknob across from it. The awesome part was they left just enough slack in the ropes......so when we tried to open our door, it started slamming the door across the hall. This woke up the people beside us, and so on, and so on. As we called each other to "come get us out", the answer was "our door won't open either".
Simple, but incredibly effective.

the end closed, slide it under someones door, and stomp! Not that I know of anyone that ever did such a thing.....
Agree with others about penny locking doors or driving a piece of 2x4 between the door knob and the jamb. The pennies got so bad that you had to make sure you had pliers in your room to be able to unlock the door.

My husband’s group played dodgeball with bottle rockets in the hall! After all, there was nothing to catch fire.

Spring of 73 we had a .24 hr poker game that ran all semester. Guys would come in and out based on their class schedule
Remember the day of the draft lottery and we were all in the lounge as they were calling the numbers out on TV and the announcer says Congratulations (whatever date). You have won the lottery. Had a guy in there with that date and he throws a chair through a window facing the quad. Then announcer says No 365 Guy says “never mind”
