Looks like Shipley is going to be out

Silver lining here is we'll get to see some of the young RBs get some burn. I've been wanting to see Jay Haynes all year the way he has been talked about in practice. I think he brings a nice change of pace to Mafah as more of a speed back and we all know that the offense needs more speed. Obviously, hope Shipley can go (and not fumble if he goes) but would love to see Jay play some.

Well, many have been saying Mafah should have been the starter. This will answer some questions for all

Both could be good, I just feel we need a speed back to help out the offense

Oh no doubt. I imagine several redshirt plans are being reviewed because I know the coaches want to be bowl eligible.

With only four games left and postseason games not counting to eligibility, I see no reason to play more guys. Not sure who all got snaps vs Charleston Southern or FAU but no reason to hold back guys and get them 4 games this year.

Silver lining here is that we hopefully see a RB with some wiggle

RT and LT’a backs should feel great after not having someone run into the back of them all game long.

Running personnel packages and blocking schemes need to compliment play calls

Not sure Riley has those in the playbook.

Not sure Riley is getting to run the offense exactly the way he wants. He's a Mike Leach guy, and Mike Leach would always make up for bad Oline play by going with extreme splits to spread out the front 7 and create space. The fact that we haven't gone that route would suggest he doesn't truly have full control.

finds the hole, he's fast, and he runs tough. Hate that he is going to be out, but probably doesn't matter who runs because of the play of our offensive line.

Good runners play great when they have great blocking. Great runners play great with poor blocking; Barry Sanders comes to mind.

i think we've needed a change of pace back all season - maybe Haynes can demonstrate that.

The real silver lining is perhaps not having a red zone fumble this week.

I fully expect Shipley to transfer this season. Honestly he is a mediocre back. I used to think he could be great. Just to slow to get any real separation.

He's a fine back, but he's regressed in his time at Clemson. Still looks at his feet when running and has ball control issues. Not just him though, Mafah is 3 years into the system and can't pick up blitzes very well. Subpar coaching will amplify their shortcomings.
