Looking forward to a great outing by Zach

May 30, 2015, 7:27 AM

Few college baseball pitchers are hotter right now tha Zach. In his last 6 starts he has been dominant - winning 5. He slaughtered Duke and Georgia Tech. The first time he faced Louisville - he was very good (1 run over first 6 innings) before a rough 7th inning. Then he smoked GS, FSU, and Louisville to end the season.
If Zach can go deep in the game against Pepperdine, it will really help our chances of winning this regional. CSF's starter only went 3 2/3 innings last night but threw 90 pitches so he shouldn't be back. 1 CSF reliever threw 25 pitches and the next 2 threw 19 pitches each. All 3 of these teams have pitching depth issues.

No offense but I think we have the worst pitching depth in this regional. Sure Crownover and Erwin are two good arms but we have literally 0 people behind them that should make us feel confident.

No offense taken. I can certainly appreciate that perspective. Against solid weekend competition:
Our 1 vs their 1: we are 11-5
Our 2 vs their 2: we are 9-6
Our 3 vs their 3: we are 5-9
Against lower level competition:
Our midweek vs theirs: we are 7-8
So our record supports your view point.
Granted I'm always an optimist, but:
I believe that Jake's arm is healed. I think he can throw 100 pitches, and I think the control issues against NC were an anomaly. I would choose Jake over 80% of 3's in the tourney.
If we make it to the 4th game, we will certainly have momentum. Charlie has really been showing confidence and there's always a chance that we could see the Brody that we saw against SC.
The odds of us winning the regional aren't great at this point, but the odds of sweeping FSU were not great either ;)

It's even scarier knowing we won't have those two next year. Who is gonna pitch ??

Zach is the man. He is going to give it all he has and that is good enough for me. Go Tigers.
