Under Coach Swinney, we’ve only had one season below .500. That was in 2010 when the team finished 6-7 after losing to South Florida in Charlotte. However, the next season, things started to look up with Boyd taking over at QB, and the rest is history. Right now, many of us just want to see a spark that gives us confidence we’re heading in the right direction again.

And some of us don’t want just a “spark” Dabo is one the highest paid coaches in any sport in all of the United States. If he can’t get us back to a competitive team at the highest level, they’re plenty of great coaches who would love to make $11 million a year and have the resources available at Clemson. Getting blown out in openers year after year is unacceptable. This notion that Dabo is irreplaceable does not make any sense

The pay is not an argument. Even if you contribute to IPTAY, they don't pay his salary so get over the salary winning. Maybe the overall ~$20 million for Dabo and the other coaches is paid by TV revenue from ESecPN and the ACC. Dabo does get about $345,000 of his salary from the state while the state pays the Chicken Coaches, Beamer and Staley over $1 million each. Only one Clemson employee made the top 10 highest paid state employees and it wasn't Dabo, Neff or Clemens but there were 6 UofSC coaches and their AD.

I respectfully disagree. Since the addition of a garbage game for every team, winning eight or nine games is nothing special. Unless you win 10 or more games, you are just middle of the Pack team. Clemson football is not a “middle of the pack program.” We are top 25 all-time for the AP era of football. Being satisfied with nine wins is just a loser mentality, because two wins are usually gimmies and we have South Carolina who we’ve always dominated. I’m not insinuating that Clemson must win 10 every season, but I would say Clemson football should have the expectation to have 10 wins seasons most of the time.

Nope, the bar has been raised. For 10 million a year, we don't have to fet a Tommy west. That's the frustration from most fans. Clemson is not that program anymore. Yes Dabo changed it, but he cannot sustain it for whatever reason. No playoffs this year or next and ge is gone or Clemson is admitting that winning championships is no longer the goal!

If he lives with HS recruits then he better get 4-5* players and be willing to bid for the right ones. If we dont recruit top 5 talent while not using the TP, we will never be elite, just a good team.

If you know a clear path, please let me know, but I’m fine with the state of our program. Some time in the next 5 years regulations will be put in place and Dabo will be ahead of the game. All these teams tampering and buying championships will be starting from scratch. Play the long game homie, Dabo will end up being the only one doing things the right way and prepared for the future IMO.

College football is borderline unwatchable right, and I agree it's untenable in the long term. Why stick with a methodology that is proven to not work though? Why not play by the same rules as everyone as and be competitive? Why choose the path of failure hoping to be proven right? Can't he adapt now, then say I told you so later?

How do you “demand” something from someone that you have no control or authority over? Or by demand do you mean scream and stomp like a child having a tantrum?
I’m an alumni and have been a fan since the mid 70s. I worked with a student program at the university my last 3 years before retirement. My daughter was the Tiger Cub mascot. We bleed orange. I don’t like what I’ve seen from our football team the last few years but I also understand I am not a football coach or AD or part of the University Administration. I’m a big fan of everything Clemson. That’s all. Not my decision and I certainly have no standing to “demand” anything. Doesn’t make me a Dabo cultist or an idiot. And I’ve been called both on here multiple times.

Dabo built the success to then build the resources..
He built his vision..
Does his vision need to be adjusted and improved, yes.
But I see this as coaching and development problem.
I question the hire of some coaches who are learning on the job: Spiller, Grisham, maybe some of High School guys,
Goodwin seems to be pretty good. No Brent V but there is only one Brent V..I think Defense coaches are solid.
The offense side is the issue. And Dabo brought in Coach Matt. He brought in a talented OC.
But our WRs need better coaching and developing. The QB position needs something immediate and needs better recruits or transfers next year.
The OC must step back and create a game plan based on what we have and build on its strengths or weaknesses. Time to bring it all out. If we have to gimmick our way to wins, so be it.
We will see what happens.

I don’t think anyone should or are discrediting Dabo and his many achievements. This also isn’t some new thing the fans are in an uproar about. This has been getting worse every year for the last 4 years. Some pointed it out then and were crucified for it. They saw it early. 4 years later and they were right. Who can disagree after yesterday that we don’t belong at the top?
As someone else said, our program is a 9-10 win expectation in a very bad ACC. Possibly an ACC championship here and there. That’s our current ceiling. Sticking to our “morals” as subjective as they are are more important than adaptions to the many changes taking place in NCAA Football and we may as well say that part out loud.
Clemson’s new goal is to play decent football and play the players we made promises to. End of story now deal with it

Here’s your rebuttal. If Danny was fired in 1980 how did he win a national championship in the 1981 season? You are the one that doesn’t know what he’s talking about. When Danny was fired it was because of a major disagreement with University Administration over facilities for athletes. Dabo has the full support of the University Administration. Not really sure what you think might be the same here?

It’s not instant gratification, it’s return on investment. Dabo was paid for his past success, but that is now behind him. From a business standpoint, Dabo is in decline and there is no argument against that at this time.

Were you in the room for the negotiations on Dabo’s contract? If he was paid with the expectation to continue to be elite, why would he get bonuses for championships instead of getting deductions for not winning championships? Those aren’t in any coach’s contracts. He’s being paid for his talent, just like players getting NIL pay. Is anyone asking for that back if they don’t play well? You think DJ had to give any money back to Dr. Pepper? Y’all are so out of touch with reality.

I’m a 40 sometime and I want a change unless Dabo admits he’s been a bonehead and starts getting back to the attitude and open mind he had in 2013. I demand better for my university and our fans. The game has passed him by and the separation between us and the elite teams is getting bigger and bigger. We could get any coach we wanted in the country minus a few at their dream schools. I’m in my forties, a Clemson graduate, married to a Clemson grad, and my daughter is a Clemson grad. I’m an IPTAY member, and go to as many football, basketball, and baseball games as I can afford. My uncle was in the last military class at Clemson College. I remember the day Coach Ford was fired, the Hatfield years, the West years, and the Bowden years. We’ve been blessed to have gone to the top with Dabo two times. But now what? You say that we will become irrelevant. We already are. Clemson is now being laughed at throughout college football. Because Dabo is doing things “his way”. This program has been going backwards for almost 4 seasons.
I don’t want him fired but this is all on him. His refusal to adapt like other top programs has cost us. We are now years behind other schools like Bama, UGA, Ohio St., Michigan, etc. Clemson didn’t capitalize on its position when it should have. I was here at Clemson long before Dabo could find it on the map, and good Lord willing, I will be here after he’s made his millions and retired to Florida to play golf.

I do agree with the lack of capitalization while on top.
You don’t or may never reach that point (see the fake USC) and we should have remained top 5 for many years off those successes. Sad honestly and again that’s why I believe Dabo will not be fired, but could very well bow out after this season.

Prior to Dabo, Clemson lived off 1981 and some of Fords grit. Clemson was UGA prior to Kirby. Thought it was something but never achieved or reached potential.
Could be slightly above average but not nationally relevant.

I agree. The issue is bigger than the head coach. It’s the era that we are in. Clemson is not built for it. Our salary cap is much less than the elite teams. Hard to get free agents to sign when you can’t provide the best offer.
It’s similar to baseball teams building through the draft and farm system. That’s what the lower market teams have to do to have a chance and that’s what we have to do in recruiting.
Also we can’t throw around big checks at positions such as oline that is one of the hardest areas to project a recruit ala David Sanders.

The difference was we paid Tommy West $150,000 a year. We pay Dabo $11 million. If we are willing to pay that money on a coach, we can get a top 5 coach in the country. You don't want to be sub-.500 and are content with 8-4 mediocre seasons. That's fine if that's what you're happy with, but we shouldn't be paying top-flight salaries for mediocre results.

I wasn’t around or old enough to see or understand Coach Howard’s decline but that is probably the closest parallel to what we are seeing now. The Ford era was ended for reasons other than wins and losses so you can’t compare that situation.
After seeing what happened to programs like Tennessee, Florida, Alabama and Nebraska after losing legendary coaches, any change at the top is likely to make for some tough years.
Until we get the conference situation worked out, any change to the HC position might be a major roll of the dice. I don’t see us pulling a coach from a high level program in the SEC or BIG until that is worked out.
Dabo is the Goat at Clemson. Hope he can get this headed in the right direction.

None of these guys are worth the money these universities are agreeing upon. It’s big business though.
