effort by the SEC to upstage the ACC football media event this year. They weren't exactly happy last year when the ACC jumped out in front first with the 10 game + 1 (including ND) announcement leaving open the possibility of the ACC-SEC rivalry games still being played with the +1. SEC came back and said No. Hardly likely but fun stuff to ponder.

Texas because it was just a few minutes before Jimbo was to speak at the SEC Media Days. I thought they wanted to see him rattled as the news broke. I have since read that Texas AM leaked the information to shine a light on it and perhaps kill it before it gained more momentum. These situations, once exposed, usually come to fruition quickly or die quickly. I think Tex AM wanted to get out ahead of it and weaken it before it became too much of a done deal. Just my quess.

They have a great fanbase and I've enjoyed our games with them, but it is undeniable that they have a severe little brother complex. I am not surprised they would leak something like this just to sabotage Texas.

I just don't see it. Even with the "money" argument I don't see it as I don't think the money gain is there for Texas (maybe for OU). Both are $220M and 160M income respectively. That is already at or above SEC level. Seriously, Texas is making more and OU is making the same as Alabama

Texas is basically treated as their own special case in the conference. It is Texas Special Treatment conference that then Oklahoma steals their lunch money and Kansas has their own special indoor activities. Back to Texas, they can't win their own conference and I don't see them rushing to be a smaller piece of the pie. I mean, they are struggling to be 5-3 in the B12 and they think they would compete at above 4-4?

Likewise, OU has a fairly easy path to playoffs and has basically owned the B12 for the last 20+ years.

At most, they would quasi-remake the SWC/+Mississippi/LSU as the SEC west. I would expect Georgia to fight Alabama joining the east as you would basically have Alabama and Florida ruling, while Tenn and Jawja sulk.

Finally, we already often have the case for the SWC/B12 teams matching up against the SEC - again, OU's path to the playoff

Their kids at A&M and OU. This is a fishing expedition at best based on what boosters are saying. A&M has Zero interest in that happening and I can bet you $$ Bama has no interest in adding anymore half competent teams to compete on the field and recruit against w/o big Sugar Daddy SEC funneling them everything they could ever want.

I don't think this will go anywhere. Didn't several years ago
during conference expansion the Oklahoma legislature pass legislation
that if OU joined the SEC OSU had to come too? SEC doesn't want both.
