He’s a good person, he’s not going to tamper. He’s also not going to pay a lot of money for a freshman.
He’s says that this is not going to stop them from having a championship program.
That’s the kinda coach you want to succeed. I just don’t know if that’s possible in the current environment. I hate it, but that’s the sad reality.

I think he should be willing to pay a lot for a proven quarterback from the portal.

He may make a few coaching changes but Im skeptical that he will ever make enough portal additions.

You have seen Vizzina play exactly 1 game and a handful of scattered series. How do you know he must be replaced? If so, by whom, exactly - name the name of the proven qb that not only wants to transfer from his current school and ALSO WANTS to come to Clemson? This isn't the old army, you cannot draft them. So, give me the name and record of this unicorn. When Carson Beck went to Miami, he was never going anywhere else - because his girlfriend is there. You can't illegally tamper, which does happen but if you get caught, the suspension of the entire program could happen. (It happened to SMU for paying players even though 'other teams did it')
Give me those exact names

Good and I hope he is great. But clearly can’t beat out our mediocre QB now…and we need better qb play to compete

Do we know that he cannot beat Cade? Seniority seems to have also been the thing with Dabo and quarterbacks.

mediocre my ###. Cade is the ONLY reason we have won one game this year, I suggest you look at the stats game by game. He had 2 lousy games, other than that, the losses have been on the defense.

You hit the nail on the head. I love the guy and what he stands for. But, I don't like what college sports has become.
Unfortunately, I don't think Clemson is going to winning any more Football Championships. For arguments sake let's say Dabo Cleans up his coaching staff and replaced all of the weak links with A+ hires. I still don't think we get there with the way he manages the roster.
Like I told one of my Clemson buddies....it was fun while it lasted.

After the chaos and confusion is over and the Superleague is formed, will Clemson even get an offer? We may be too far gone at that point. Kind of like South Carolina...

i hope the superleague never, ever happens. disney wants it to. I'd prefer seeing conferences break down into divisions again and perhaps even more small regional conferences.
we have already turned the sport over to disney and they have nearly destroyed it.

That's the assumption I've been under. But, I'm beginning to wonder if the ongoing chaos is rapidly draining the kind of viewership and fan interest CFB needs in order to pull off the Super-League? Will the revenue projections be what everyone expected?
Who knows. But, I suspect that Clemson's television viewership is currently taking a beating and it's only going to get worse by 2030-2031 unless Clemson is competing for National Championships. I'm fairly certain Clemson is done being a major player in CFB under the current system.
It's Super-League or bust at this point.

SuperLeague ain't gonna happen without some Federal legislation

that provides the legal framework for a Governing body to set and enforce rules/limitations that prohibits every disgruntled player/school from running to the courts every time a league decision is rendered that they don't like.
Considering the dysfunctional state of affairs between our political party's I don't see that kind of legislation happening anytime soon.
Apparently Dabo is going to doggedly hang on to the illusion that the top priority of big league college football is still getting an education and developing young men. In the meantime the rest of the college football coaching world is adapting to the new reality where the business of winning is the priority and anything not contributing to that goal is an unnecessary distraction.

Yep.
Having a roster with more than a dozen 3rd, 4th and 5th years players, that do not contribute, will not win national championships in today's era of college football.
There just won't be enough competitive depth on the roster. Younger players will be forced into early playing time before they are ready.

Numerous recruiting misses were filled with fall back players. Those open roster spots could have been filled with portal additions that would actually contribute.

This problem really began in 2022 when Tony and BV left. We've lost recruits and offered guys late as a result every year since then.
2022: Myles Oliver, Kobe McCloud, Jaheim Lawson, Cole Turner, Kylon Griffin, Josh Sapp, Keith Adams
2023: Jay Haynes, Tink Kelley, Tyler Brown, Jarvis Green
2024: CJ Kubah Taylor, Watson Young, Joe Wilkinson, Adam Kissayi
2025: Jakarrion Kenan, Makhi Williams Lee, Tucker Kattus, Chris Denson, Gavin Blanchard
2026: JR Hardrick, Michael Foster, Franklin Whitley, Brayden Reilly, Julian Peterson
Some have/will workout. Most will not. I agree that we need to fill most of these spots with transfers that can play immediately instead of recruiting projects that are at least 3 years away from contributing.

No it didn't. The problem began before they left. Once Lawrence and Etienne left, that exposed some of the talent issues we had, particularly at the skill positions. These talent issues were forming while Venables and Elliot were still here.

I was referring to the problem of offering high school recruits really late in the cycle after we miss on our top targets.
We consistently do this instead of using the portal.

Dabo doesn’t like the current landscape of CFB except for his contract. Don’t tell me about anything but winning when you’re making $11,500,000 a year.

so he lied a few weeks ago when he said we would win championships again? He is putting his pride ahead of Clemson once again and very few changes will be made. He can make all the coaching changes he wants but without a talent upgrade it just wont matter. This proves again that Dabo is the problem, not the assistants. Little Beamer is going to embarass him for the 3rd time in 4 years with a 4-7 team, yet he still refuses to change. Dabo has accomplished a lot, but he is the number 1 problem right now.

the Clemson Football Program will not be relevant in the upper echelons of college football for a very long time. If the head coach of a 5-5 program can flat out make it clear that they do not intend to progress with the modern way of managing a college football program and roster and that coach isn't stood up to then we don't have a program problem, we have an administration problem all the way down.
