Bought Phil Steele for the first time 12.99

I really don't mind if someone makes the case that Clemson might take a step back, etc. We lost some guys and sure it's conceivable we could struggle out of the gate offensively.
This magazine was pretty painful to read in my opinion. Such tiny font, and ZERO "prose" quality. We're talking about a book with absolutely no literary content. That's a tough sell for me. I agree that statistics/trends can be important in football but I'm not sure I need to know that Travis Zachary came up short on 4th down against NC State in 1996... the minutiae in this publication is just CRAZY
Gimme Athlon I guess... I don't think Lindys even does an ACC mag, I haven't been able to find one.

It is packed full of info but I am getting to the age that I can't read it without a magnifying glass. I went with the Sporting News.

What used to make Phil Steele the best is now what makes it

the worst. He packs the mag full of stats which can easily be googled.
I prefer the fulffier mags with glossy pictures, featuretts, sidebars and multiple rankings.

Lindsey's does an ACC edition unless they quit doing so.

If you want to read 4-6 Clemson pages of stuff that you more than likely already know more than, for whatever it cost.
I stopped buying them because of all the online info that is availible nowadays.

Lindy's quit doing one for ACC this year. Athlon still do one, I picked one up for ACC yesterday.

With the success of FSU, Us, UL and ND entering the conference this year, and the playoff format starts this year.
I would have at leastgiven production this year to see how things trend.

Phil Steele is the best pre-season rag hands down.

It gives a lot of great info and insights on every team in America. He also has many ratings in there...Projected AP rankings, his power poll, strength of schedule, experience returning, surprise teams, etc.
Yes it is a lot of info and you can use it all football season long. I downloaded it this year onto my Ipad for $9.99. I personally like all the stats. And I can learn about all 125 teams out there in in pretty good detail.
Athlons, Lindys, Sporting News, USA Today....their preseason guides are all fluff pieces. They are a waste of money and you can read them in about 30 minutes and never pick them up again. A good analogy: Reading any of them is like reading the Greenville News or any other local newspaper. Reading Phil Steele is like reading the Wall Street Journal. You get a lot more detail which is what I want for my hard earned money.
