How many big wins since 2019 Ohio State?? Am I wrong?

No team is going to win every big game against elite or high profile competition. No reasonable fan should expect this. To me, winning half of these opportunities should keep you in elite status. This list speaks for itself:

Losses
2019 LSU
2020 Notre Dame
2020 OSU
2021 Georgia
2022 Notre Dame
2022 South Carolina
2022 Tennessee
2023 Florida State
2024 Georgia
2024 South Carolina
2024 Texas
2025 LSU

2 wins against Notre Dame 2020 and 2023

Wait so it corresponds directly to our 1st round QBs? Has to be a coincidence right?

OSU won natty last year with QB far inferior to DW and TL. Those are rare talents that I hope we not counting on landing every few recruiting cycles to get big wins!? Don’t need 1st round nfl talent QB to win big games. How about Stetson Bennett??

We do not and have never recruited like OSU, TX, Bama, and UGA are capable of. Even 16 &18 we were Top 10 not Top 5 in recruiting. A great QB can make up that difference.

OSU’s qb, Howard, was inferior to DW and TL. But I don’t think as inferior as many think. There was a lot put on him and he delivered. Granted he had an amazing supporting cast on offense. And he had the number 1 defense in the country. But Howard played darn good most of the season. Though certainly not against Michigan.

2021-present we’re 9-14 vs P4/5 teams that finish with 8+ wins.
And 1-8 vs OOC P4/5 teams with 8+ wins

It corresponds with portal era, Nil era, elite QB play, elite WR play…………..pretty much lacking elite talent and coaching over that span.

Might as well add the coot record too.
2019: W
2020: Didn't play
2021: W
2022: L
2023: W
2024: L

3-2 against them isn't great (Although I know we would've kicked their rears in 2020). But the Post Trevor era of Clemson Football isn't pretty at all.

They need to start winning these big games again.

So 2-12 against the best teams on our schedule since 2019.

We are 10-10 in that stretch against ranked teams. Which is still Top 15 for win percentage. Most teams don’t win against top 10 teams very often. Big reason we were top 2 for 5 years.

Dabo is 1-4 in his last 5 games against top 10 teams.

He is 3-7 in his last 10 games against top 10 teams.

Those three wins were against a Wake Forest team that finished the season 15th and lost all of its games against ranked teams; an NC State team that finished the season unranked; and an SMU team that finished 12th whose best win was over a then-ranked Pitt team that finished the season 7-6.

Our 7 losses to these top 10 teams were by 21 points (Ohio State), 7 points (Georgia), 17 points (Tennessee), 7 points (Florida State), 31 points (Georgia), 14 points (Texas), and 7 points (LSU) - an average of nearly 15 points per game.

These are very concerning trends, no matter how much mental gymnastics and rationalization exercises are performed.

Lol just the other day you were talking up freeman's record against top 10 teams. That included Indiana.

So you count Indiana as a massive win for other coaches despite them beating bums and nobodies, but you pump the brakes on beating Wake/State/SMU. Can't have it both ways.

Freeman also beat Georgia and Penn State, two very good teams, last year and went to the national championship. Something Dabo hasn’t done in a while.

They also lost to a northern illinois team that finished 6th in the MAC....

They had 1 good run last year and everyone is ready to crown ND as being a massive force. They just lost another game against Miami last week despite Cristobal trying to throw the game like he always does.

I think Freeman is a great coach and 2x the Man off the field Kelly is. But he's got faults over there just like anyone else. If we want to randomly cherry pick, Freeman has lost 2 games against G5 opponents, he's lost against Stanford, lost to one of the worst Clemson teams we put out in over a decade, lost to Louisville, and now he's lost his last 2 games against top 10 opponents. Is the world falling in south bend?

That DeBoer record is so confounding. Last year Alabama beat 3 ranked teams and lost to 3 unranked teams. Crazy

South Carolina is neither elite, nor high profile competition. Now THAT is hilarious... 😂! Seriously, they're not even close to on being in the same category as UGA, FSU, Notre Dame, etc....

Did someone pay you to type that? 🤣.
