Lack of power?

I know it’s early but the lack of power is concerning . We didn’t really hit the ball well today against a struggling pitcher and 4 games in without a home run is odd . I don’t know if you can ever find a 4 game stretch without a homer ?

I believe Coach EB isn’t worried about home runs at this point in the season. Once again, just my opinion, I think he wants to see development game by game.

Part of that is playing in an mlb stadium and todays weather. Could be more beneficial to have a team able to string hits together if we make it to Omaha as that field plays deep.

Well, it didn’t effect the teams we were playing. -8 in HRs is concerning. There are at least 250 teams that have hit a HR. For him to say he’s not concerned is coach speak at this juncture. And the gamecocks are right around the corner. Other than the Arizona game, we’re averaging 5.5 hits a game. That along with the pitching situation should be concerning!

Agree. It’s concerning. Small ball with pitching that is mid at best is a concern. Maybe it’s early and it’ll get better.

Lack of power would be a concern if we were 1-3 but we are 3-1. Worrying about homes runs is in the category of worrying about touchdown passes when you run the ball down someone's throat and win. There is always more than one way to skin a cat.

I would rather have 9 guys hitting 300 and above and play great defense. You don’t have to hit HR to win in baseball

It is puzzling, but I'm not worried....we have some beasts and they will come. As long as we are winning I am good!

They will heat up as the weather heats up. Nice to be able to manufacture runs and not have to constantly depend on the long ball

Other teams will also heat up , it is a very real issue looming. Against the ##### and better teams they can beat us with 1 swing with the power they are showing . Without the power , pitching must be dominant and ours is far from it now !

Historical runs scored per home run (MLB) shows that most runs are scored without home runs and the production of runs scored by home runs are declining over time.

It is surprising that we haven’t hit a HR yet but I’m not concerned. Being able to score runs without the long ball is a good thing. I mentioned this last week in a different post but I was much more frustrated during the Lee days when we couldn’t hit with RISP to save our collective arses but all he rambled on about was launch angles and HRs.
If you’re putting a good swing on good pitches the HR will come.
And I’ll say it now. We hit our first one today…
