lack of intensity

It looked to me if they were just going through the motions on both sides of the ball, no intensity hardly at all, after the first two possessions i said this team is worse than last years the offense looked the same, with the same issues, bad QB play, lack of receivers and this year we have no kicker to boot, the defense got scorched on runs after the catch and a ton of missed tackles it was just awful.

Agreed, but the offense came out in the second half and played with more enthusiasm. In fact, we easily moved the ball on them until we got inside the 5 yards line. Then we self destroyed. A false start at the 1 lead to a missed FG. Two fumbles inside 3 yard line lost to Duke. That's seriously beating your selves. No excuse for those blunders. They cost us the game.

The offense did play better in the 2H but you also have to remember that when Duke went prevent with the big lead all they cared about was keeping everything in front of them so some of those rushing yards were easy yards.

THIS is one of the main missing pieces since Venables left.

He brought so much energy and swagger, and it was always positive. Win lose or draw there was a bounce in the step from everyone, what he did for the Defense bled over to the entire team.

It was either a complete coincidence that it left when he left, but odds are he was the stoking the fire all day long every day at Clemson.

And he lifted everyone with his energy, not just the defense...

Getting blown out by an underdog is something to expect with Dabo. The term "Clemsoning" is unfair. I coin the term "Daboing" to describe this all too frequent occurrence.

where's your pride defense? I agree that Effort is calculated by hats swarming the ball and not being denied. Teammates feed off of it and other teams tighten up when they sense it. Other teams also feed off of knowing the other team is slow and not energized and if they're any good they'll seize that moment.
