Knowing they’ve been hot behind the arc

Mar 9, 2022, 9:22 PM

why not draw a foul and force them to make two free throws? I’m no BB coach but man that stings bad

Dawes didn't play aggressive enough guarding the guy. Essentially had a wide open 3.

Wouldn’t say it was “obvious” they were going for 3

If we overcommitted to defending the 3 and left an easy 2 point shot I’m sure they’ have taken that for 2OT. They just hit a clutch shot - not much more we could do.

Foul the opposing team when you’re up by 2?

Mar 9, 2022, 9:25 PM

I’m guessing that’s why you’re not a basketball coach, dude.

When they are a hot three point shooting team, and they

have what is obviously the last possession of the game? Absolutely I would have fouled them. Then the WORST that happens is another OT. I suppose you like what DID happen better?

Hall left that barn door open . . .

by missing the first of his two FTs . . . and he knew it

Dawes’ commitment during the last few seconds of the first half and on the final shot in OT just leaves me shaking my head . . . to his credit he did hit a huge 3 himself as the shot clock wound down . . .

Very few folks thought we could make up the 14 point deficit we built . . . especially as we got deeper into the second half and Hall was barely able to walk . . .

Kudos to our guys for digging deep . . . I hate moral victories, but there are a few in there

There are. For me it’s the missed free throw too. He makes that and they have to shoot a three to tie. I think VT knew we’d play the tie tighter and played the odds with a guy that shoots over 50% behind the arc.

Just didn’t bounce our way. I thought the D was appropriate for the nature of the calls for the night. Fouls were a plenty on both.
