Klubnik - can he run or is he more of a Pocket Passer?

Nov 17, 2021, 11:30 AM

It just feels like this year we have a Pocket passer where the past X years we have always had a runner/passer

He is a dual threat QB***

Yep, he can scamper when he needs to. He will be our starter next year by Game #4.

I hope we fill out the QB room then. If he is good enough he should start but if he is starting by game 4 I am pretty sure "big cinco" is gone. Im not saying that is a good thing or a bad thing but I think it is inevitable if he loses his gig for sure.

He is very athletic and can definitely run.

Think DW w/o the live arm, still a good arm though-

Klubnik won the Elite 11 competition this year. His film

If you go through twitter, there are plenty of highlight tapes of his out there. It seems to me half of his touchdowns come with his legs. Appears to be quite good at the read option. Atleast at the high school level.

He is the complete package.
He will gain 20-30 lbs while at Clemson and be a first round pick .

I would still like to see him in person if they continue to play in the Austin area. Whenever I see clips of him on the evening sports, it appears that he totally "gets" the option reads. He has good speed, but more importantly, IMO, he appears to have a quick start when he decides to run.

Watch his tape. He can scramble and elude the rush. Accurate passer who knows where to go with the ball.

The three games I've seen this year appears to me that Westlake runs a similar offense to Clemson.

Mixture of RPO, zone read, play action and pure pass. They run 2 and 3 WR sets, spread, etc.

Klubnick is not afraid to keep it on an RPO. He also is not afraid to make contact with a defender when he is running.

I think he definitely qualifies as a dual-threat QB.
