Win the Opener: Start the season with a victory. Win the Division: Secure the ACC Atlantic Division title (or whatever the equivalent is in the current conference structure). Win the State Championship: Defeat rival South Carolina. Win the Conference: Win the ACC Championship. Win the Closer: This goal specifically refers to winning the final game of the season, which could be a bowl game or a College Football Playoff game. This replaced the earlier "Win the Bowl Game" goal after the advent of the College Football Playoff, as winning a bowl game might not necessarily be the final game if the team continued on to the championship.

I think we can go undefeated and win the National Championship, but I don't expect to.

Anything less than at least one playoff win and a close loss in the semis would be a disappointment.

out of the chickens, winning the ACC, and a Final 4 appearance is underperforming.

To your point there would we rather go 11-1 and make the playoffs this year losing to the chickens or go 1-11 but beat the chickens if those were the only two options?

CFP Appearance is definitely the expectation. That probably means 10-11 season wins minimum and most likely a conference championship win.
From there, I'd LOVE to see us win 2 CFP games. That either puts us in the final four or championship game.

National championship or bust is crazy talk. We’re unproven at RB and thin at some key positions. We’ll need to stay healthy for sure.
The expectations should be performing better than last year.
ACC Championship and 2nd round of the playoffs.

Kind of a ridiculous question

Not taking a shot at the OP, I'm just saying, there's a reason we are being picked to have a top 5 offense, top 5 defense, and still being ranked preseason outside the top 10. It's because we have some serious question marks and holes. The same team that lost to the yard birds, and needed a once in a generation field goal to beat SM-stinking-U, is the same team returning. Some people on here only read the pros and forget about the cons. Add the two together and at least come up with some semblance of what we should expect. Me? I just hope we improve our Win total, win the ACC, and win the first playoff game. That's better than last year, and I'm cool with that.

I'll 2nd that point. All this hype is bizarre. As Leon said, we're unproven in several areas. And I personally include Cade in that.
We needed va tech to make turnovers and a highlight reel 50+ last minute run from Cade to beat Pitt... or we could have been 7-5. We struggled against any decent team we played last season and it wasn't all because of bad D.
Anything short of a competitive game in the playoffs would be a disappointment. A first round playoff loss would be considered underachieving, and potentially long term ramifications on recruiting.

Did you even actually watch the games or just check scores? I'm not saying natty or bust and injury luck matters every year. Clemson hobbled down the stretch because of injuries on the offensive line,rb, Pwoo, Woodaz, Capehart with very young unexperienced depth behind them. You were essentially one dimensional and abysmal on defense. The hype is because of continuity, health and having the most experienced team in cfb back. You add a Bonafide defensive coordinator a true DE2 in Heldt. Those young guys played alot add in another year of development with the same system offensively. It's warranted praise imo to have high expectations anything less than 10-2 11-1 an ACC Championship and a final 4 barring significant injury would be a bust. Plain and simple. Way too many glass half empty folks. I'm not saying you run the schedule or have close calls that's football, but expectations should be high.

I agree.
The defense will be night and day from what we saw last year.
And there’s every reason to believe the offense will be improved as well. Cade will be better. The offensive line will be better. The skill positions will be a year older and a year better. And people need to stop freaking out about running back. We’ll be fine there too.
The wildcard, as always, is injuries.

National championship or bust is unrealistic.

All you can realistically hope for is....
1. Being one of the top 4 or 5 favorites to win it all in August. 2. Assuming you avoid a slew of injuries, being one of the top 2 or 3 favorites to win it all after the regular season is over.
Right now the list of teams in the group of top 4 or 5 are: Texas, Ohio State, Clemson, UGA and Penn State. They are the "pre season favorites" to win it all. You can't ask for more than that.
