At the end of the season, when we fire some coaches, how many of you believe that Dabo will then hire the right coaches that will get things turned around?

I don't think he understands who he needs to hire.
So I say...no

I posted this recently. Even his legit hires recently haven't panned out. That's scary and not sure where he goes from here.

He had a great batting average on hires for years. Then went nepo and it has killed us. He is in a big slump

The Chad Morris experience started this. Morris

wanted to jump at the first head coaching gig that he could get. He wanted to interview for just about any opening while he was at Clemson. We always had to reassure recruits that things would e ok if he left.
Dabo vowed to not have to do that again anytime soon and promoted TE and JS as Co OCs. To his credit that move was a homerun and he thought he could do it many times after that and also have similar success. However, the moves since then have not only panned out, they have been atrocious.
Personally, I’d rather we us swing and miss at getting the best coaches available rather than simply offering friends and family because I thought that they’d remain loyal and stick around a few more years.

Superbly put.
Your post also (without actually writing it down) said that Dabo prizes HS recruiting moreso than actual coaching or X’s and O’s excellence.
The Dabo model of running a CFB program has been exposed this year, in particular, as rapidly trending towards obsolescence. Superb HS recruiting was good enough of a strategy to win big. Hey, it worked for Ed Orgeron and Gene Chizik for single miracle seasons. Dabo was different in that he was able to sustain HS recruiting excellence.
Now, the better odds of a player working out are by looking at players on other college teams. Even if the other college players were playing at weak programs, the competition that these ‘weak school’ college players faced was much stronger than that from the very best HS teams. Yet, Dabo’s model was always (and still is) based on HS recruiting excellence.
(*). If Dabo were to be willing to make the adjustment and hire assistant coaches based on meritorious potential rather than prospective organizational loyalty, then maybe the decline of Clemson FB may be stopped.
Do I think he’ll go this route? No. I hope I’m very wrong.

He has no credibility left with me. Zero confidence he can do anything that helps our program anymore. Lost whatever it was he had.

Hate to say it, but that sort of depends upon just how badly this season ends. I can easily see a scenario where Furman is the only win left on the schedule. If that's the case, he might be compelled to make some quality hires.
But, if we manage to win 2 or more...he might not.
That's the rub.

He's an ofer on his last five or six hires. Most of that was with the selling point of being an elite program. Now the program is damaged goods. I think his pool to choose from is going to be G5 coaches.

Not nearly as good as if he had done it after last season

After the downward slide from perennial Top-4 program to lucking into the playoff last year only to get trounced, he was already burning off a lot of his drawing power. This season he just dumped the rest of his street cred into the toilet and dropped a big deuce on it.
What top assistant or coordinator is going to hitch their wagon to his star now? I wouldn’t… not after this season’s s#it show and all the de-commits.

But he has stability going for him. Unless there is extra $ sitting around, Dabo is going nowhere. He should be able to get a good OC and more importantly better position coaches. Compare that to Beamer who may be gone at the end of next year without significant improvement. Who do you get in a potentially short term situation? Now on the other end, there is no quicker way to get better than through the portal and Also Shane knows how to play that game. Clemson needs an AD who is from the business/fund raising side of things who is not afraid of “legends.”

I trust Dabo to make upgrades again. He’s demonstrated that for a few years in a row.
Streeter -> Riley Austin -> Luke Hall -> Rumph Goodwin -> Allen
Those are all upgrades. But it doesn’t matter. It won’t matter until Dabo changes his philosophy. These new coaches are hamstrung by Dabo’s inability to get serious about the portal.

Streeter and Goodwin were better than their successors.
That is not to suggest that Streeter and Goodwin were good enough.

I’ll admit that any argument suggesting that Streeter and Goodwin are better than (fill in the blanks _____ ) is a tough one to make.

At some point, fans will stop blaming position coaches and coordinators, and instead direct the attention at Dabo.
He’s failed all of those coaches. He can fire and replace as many as he wants. It won’t matter until Dabo gets serious about the portal. The roster needs to be overhauled. Unproductive players need to be cut and replaced with established veterans from the portal that can contribute immediately.
Conn has a converted WR stating at safety (Hanafin) with a sophomore (Jones) that’s not ready. It didn’t have to be that way.
Misun Kelley is our starting slot CB. It didn’t have to be that way.
Conn and Reed didn’t have to coach young, inexperienced players. Dabo forced them to because he refuses to make the one change that we all know is necessary.
So, yes, Dabo will fire a couple of coaches and replace them with better ones. But those new coaches will face the same problem, which is that their head coach won’t be serious about the transfer portal.

Also… If you’re not gonna be elite at high school recruiting you better bring in the portal. We do neither.

I blame Dabo for putting the coaches in bad spots. Of course our secondary is bad. We have two converted WRs starting. Jones is starting even though he didn’t gain much experience last year. That’s 3 players that clearly needed another year to develop.
Conn and Reed should be fired. But our secondary would be better if we had signed established veterans from the portal, like every team in the country does.

Although I think he is completely in over his head now, they have to let him attempt to adapt to modern football. I have zero belief he can do anything to get this program out of the hole he decided to put it in.

Coach Swinney doesn't want to adapt either he is to lazy or he's trying to prove to everyone he's right and the rest of the coaching world is wrong!

...I think it'll take years before necessary changes are made. At this point I think you are dreaming if you think that he'll fire then hire the correct personnel. It's simply not in his DNA to do what most of us believe he should do. I hope I'm wrong.
