Jimbo still whining on ESPN.com.

http://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/17938079/florida-state-seminoles-jimbo-fisher-wants-tougher-penalties-hitting-quarterbacks
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher wants stiffer penalties for late hits on quarterbacks in light of the blows that Deondre Francois has taken the past few weeks.
"I say this all the time: I think we got to do a better job -- I'm not talking about just in here but in college football -- of protecting the quarterback when they're vulnerable making throws and taking shots," Fisher said Monday. "I think we have to do a better of job of really emphasizing like they do in pro football.
"Late hits need to be really, really scrutinized and maybe even more severe punishments to stop people, like we throw guys out of games for head shots. If you're going to do that and you want to protect [players] and the integrity of the game, make those penalties very severe for hitting [quarterbacks] late."
Fisher's comments come as Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton and his coach Ron Rivera say the NFL is missing late hits on the star.
Fisher was upset Saturday night that there was not a call on a Clemson defender for targeting Francois in the fourth quarter. Fisher, who with Florida State was fined $20,000 for criticizing ACC officials, said he believed the Clemson player hit Francois in the midsection with the crown of his helmet. After the game, he called the replay official "bad" for not buzzing the officials so the hit could be reviewed.
Francois was helped off the field and missed the next play. The redshirt freshman quarterback is "banged and bruised" with an ailing shoulder and neck, but Fisher said Monday that Francois is "fine." Florida State will play at NC State on Saturday.
Three weeks ago against Miami, Fisher was also upset about what he thought were several late hits on Francois, who also had to leave that game before returning.
"A couple in my opinion [against Clemson] and in other games have been very late. The worst ones he took in a couple of the other games he should have never been touched," Fisher said Monday. "So how do you coach against that? [Officials] got to call it."
Stopping short of asking for ejections, Fisher said he'd like a "severe" penalty for late hits without elaborating. He said that if the NCAA and the rules committee want to prioritize player safety, quarterbacks should be viewed the same as players at other positions that are considered defenseless in certain situations.
"I don't know if it's an ejection, but I just think a severe penalty," he said, "especially as much as you throw the football today. In the old days you didn't throw the football, didn't have the number of throws and the body types and the different things going on defense with the blitzes and all the big bodies on defense like you do now."

+1 Correct, you might want to try getting your OL to block

and if they can't change your scheme so you leave in more players to protect. Clemson DL/LB are supposed to get to the QB when they are passing, it's called football. Google it for help!

that it's an FSU coach whining like this ?
Mickey Andrews was a great DC, but he had no problem taking the penalty just to get a LATE hit on a QB to make him nervous.LOLOLOL

Andrews had some of the toughest, hard hitting defenses ever from 84 to 09. They brought the lumber. Just ask Brandon Streeter.
Jimbo needs to stop complaining and coach his players or his seat will start warming up.

Jimbo, care to provide some evidence of the "late hits" on your QB? Perhaps YOU should do a better job of coaching how to block and quit calling plays that take 4 seconds to develop.

Mabye if your o line could block your QB would not get hit so many times. All of our hits on him were right at the throw. None of them were late. DW has got hit like that this year he is a man and takes it. Poor Frenchie has been getting beat up but it is called football Jimbo.

Our QB got beat up too even with an uncalled facemask but he didn't whine and carry on. Neither did Dabo. Jimbo needs to get over it. His team is not the only team in the league with 4 an 5 star players who are strong and tough. He is just spoiled.

in every instance Francois took a shot and NOT ONCE did he even look like he was reaching for his flag....and thats too bad because he missed a bunch of holding calls on Flast's OL
If Fisher is upset about the hits Francois has been taking, he needs to do something about the seminole offensive line.....thats his biggest problem...not the officiating

I think football would be better to protect the quarterback more. Head injuries will kill this game if not addressed.

Jimbo isn't whining. He whined the entire time to the refs, his players, coaches and he still lost and is whining. I have NO clue about any of their other games but he mentioned a "couple" of questionable hits Saturday but no evidence just something else to deflect the loss.

Fisher gonna parlay all that whining into another loss this weekend if he can't get his emotions together.

Short Term Solution: FSU online sux and can't block NFL caliber D line players so instead of sending your backs out to catch passes, you keep them in the back field to help block, you also adjust your play calling to short passes trying to get rid of the ball in 2 seconds max. When you know you can't block the D line and you don't make adjustments, then it's your conscience decision to keep sacrificing your quarterback and actually says you don't give a crap about your players.
Longtern Solution: FSU's online is their biggest weakness. Note to self- make recruiting better O linemen a top priority.

Did anyone see Jimbos pregame to his players to play with "violence"? Sounds like a double standard to me.

If he is so worried about his QB's health
Oct 31, 2016, 6:52 PM

Then why did he keep running the kid out there when it was clear he was in a world of hurt? I mean the kid was laid out with a half dozen trainers standing over him, and he gets one play off before getting sent back out there...

1) Get an OLine 2) Quit sending your QB in if you're worried 3) Whining like a ##### doesn't solve anything...even my 5 year old niece knows this

Jimbo is a dead man walking. His exclusive parade of 5 stars is going to continue to be split up with Florida and Miami resurrecting their programs. He has to face Clemson and Louisville who are still rising along with UF every year. He has already peaked but still thinks FSU is national championship caliber, so it must be the refs. Couldn't be that Clemson and Louisville are just better. Period.

300-340 pounds is some serious momentum that's really hard to stop on a dime too. The hits were right after his release of the football not seconds after.

need to slow down the pace for the SAFETY of the players". Now that Saban has an up tempo offense, I guess the other teams player safety is a non-issue. Hey Jimbo, bring in a tight end to help. Roll the pocket. Throw screens. Run draws. Annnnd put a plug in it!
