Yes, I hope he goes that route and doesn’t sign with the SGL. Since they can’t seem to sign any top PGA players, they are shifting their focus towards top amateur players.

I'm not quite ready to go there, mainly due to the bonus points that are awarded to the top ten finishers in the NCAA stroke-play finals, and since I've never really paid attention to the PGA University stuff in past years and don't know exactly what to expect here at the end here. Having said that, you may be correct. At a minimum, I really like his chances of finishing in the top five. Today should definitely increase his lead over Trent Phillips. The SEC tournament is probably worth more ranking points than the ACC due to it having a lot more highly ranked participants. However, winning the ACC has to be worth more points than finishing T5 in the SEC. We'll find out soon how Cole Hammer does in the Big 12 tournament and how RJ Manke does in the Pac-12 tournament.

I'm thinking unless manke wins p12, Jacob jumps him to take sole 3rd. Depending on what hammer does, a top 10 may be enough to jump phillips. SCar team hasn't played well so I'm not thinking they'll make it out the region and thus eliminating any chance for Ryan.
So, if indeed Jacob moves to 3, manke to 4th and hammer does enough to jump phillips for 5th, the point spread should be enough.
I see what you're saying. Even if by chance we don't make it out the regional, I'm hoping Jacob at least continues his play in the regionals. So, imo, the only way he gets bumped is if somehow hammer, manke, and phillips win their regional, then I think they'd still have to all finish top 10 in the NCAA.
Guess we won't know until next Wednesday, first week in May how it shakes after conference tournament? Right? Interesting scenario to see unfold.
Just hope HORRY's enthusiasm that our TIGERS get enough practice to advance out of regionals and at least give Jacob a chance to compete... Just hope Kyle and Colby can figure something out. And it's mostly Kyle. Can't believe he birdied only 1 of 12 par 5s but gave the lone bird away with 2 bogeys and a double to finish last in par 5 scoring.

I may be wrong, but I "think" it is possible for Jacob and these other guys to advance to the NCAA championship even if their teams do not. If I understand correctly, the top X number of teams in each regional will advance, as well as a certain number of individuals that finish the lowest, but are on teams that are not advancing. That's the only thing that gives me pause for guaranteeing Jacob a top five finish. It just seems like there is a mathematical chance of it not happening. Of course, the odds are definitely in his favor.

I looked around to try to find the exact wording, but I can't seem to find anything official. I think we'll learn more when the regional fields are announced next week.
This article says the men's NCAA championship will be made up of the top 30 teams and top 5 individuals.

We better hope it's the transfer that's coming in. We signed two others but true freshman??? Not many are ready to anchor a team. Zack was heir apparent if he so chooses to come back. Dray? He ain't getting any PT. Carter won't be an anchor but will probably be 3 man. Kian, maybe 2. It could get ugly but I'm sure our resident experts have waaay more knowledge.
I hate to say this but unless our regional is Pinehurst #2, I don't see us getting out of it. That's really painful to say.

the good thing is is that the NCAA Regionals are not until May 16-18 so that gives them plenty of practice time on the Driving Range and Practice Putting Green to work on their game and get it figured out.I look for them to be ready and prepared for whatever course they will have to play.Hopefully they play like they did back on May 7-8 when they won the Wake Forest Invitational in Pinehurst.
