Dabo gotta be watching Ewers dropping dimes on Bama going "So. Yeah. Maybe we're not quite where we'd hoped to be."

But I doubt it.

He knows exactly where we are. You just have to listen.

But feel good about today. Big win against a quality CSU program.

You already said that so saying it again doesn't

Congratulations on your win against a Bama team breaking in a new qb. We beat the best college football team EVER. Well according to ESPN. When your boys win something that matters come back and let us know. Got a feeling you won't be back.

It's just "Come and take it."

6

Sep 9, 2023, 10:57 PM

(There is no 'on' in there.)
It's a Texas thing. It's also a little obscure but since Im from there and am a product of the university that bears its name, it works as a non-Texas chat room handle on several levels.

"Come and take it" has its origins in Texas' fight for independence from Santa Anna/Mexico.

See? Books are nifty. History books are especially nifty.

And now I have to hop over to my UT chat rooms and banter with the adults about big boy football things. Have a nice evening.

It’s a Spartan thing that Texas stole. Perhaps your history should go back a little further.

Not sure one can steal something like that. Borrow, maybe?
Probably a Texian read about Thermopylae or whatever, thought such defiance in the face of overwhelming odds was a propos to the moment, and put it to good use.

Either way, as you insist on lumping Texas in with Sparta, we of course welcome and frankly deserve being so lumped.

Nobody cares about Texas football. You’ve never Sniffed a playoff. We’ve been six times. You’ve won what? one national title in 50 years? You’re in the same category with Pittsburgh

Where your big boys been the last 15 years? By the way we have beaten Bama twice for the big prize while you clowns couldn't eve sniff your own conference title. Guess what you won't sniff one this year either.

If any coach knows what it’s like to drop dimes on Bama it’s Dabo. Many times on the biggest stage possible. I’d like to see Texas actually make the playoffs before they are crowned world beaters. I am glad they beat Bama.

Youre right about that. Lots of work left to do for my Horns and many fractuosities loom.

But it's a sweet feeling beating Bama in their house.

I remember Clemson beating Bama those two times. It's getting foggy given the years since it happened, though.

We got 2 both against GREAT Baba teams and Big Trophy’s for each. How many you got in the playoff era???? I’ll wait but I’ll probably die of old age before you can count to 1. Thinking you have coot loser blood in you so I’m guessing you NEVER count thst high!!!!

Sep 10, 2023, 8:09 AM

Two questions:

1) Do you understand that the SEC is 0-4 against the ACC this year?
2) Do you understand that the SEC lost the game between Bama and Texas? Texas isn't in the SEC yet.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Big boy football.

Sep 10, 2023, 11:03 AM

Texas has the WR talent we used to get. They go up and get the ball. Unless we get involved in the portal and get some of those kinds of jimmies and joes in the passing game, we are going to keep bouncing off the ceiling of our talent gap. I am not sure it can even happen from an economic standpoint. I imagine an NFL-tier WR is going for a million bucks a year or more now. Last night was the first sign of the transition of NCAA football to a pro league with no salary cap. Texas teams got the $$$$.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yep.

1

Sep 10, 2023, 11:21 AM

Portal and NIL is the name of the game and has been for a while now.

But even if Clemson decides to embrace both with all they've got, they still can't hang with the big boys. The best and maybe only hope was joining the SEC, taking a beating for about a decade while recruiting and donor dollars caught up to expectations.

But that ship's sailed and the ACC is dern near a mid-major if not already there. SMU? Berkeley? Stanford? Laughable. If I'm a blue-chipper from SC, I'm not thinking Clemson anymore. Much less if I'm a blue chipper from somewhere else.

It's been a rough, rough road for the Horns since they decided to make Mack Brown too big to fire while the program became a laughingstock. Same thing's happening with Dabo. It's like deja-vu, watching the fans scream bloody murder anytime anyone questions the man, the culture, the effort, the hiring, the players, the play calling.

Texas won big last night. But they've haven't done squat until they're hoisting the big trophy. Otherwise, it'll be just another 10-win or thereabout season with a throwaway bowl on the backend. Yawn.

But apparently, that's good enough for y'all and Dabo. Big win yesterday! Big win coming Saturday! FSU ... eh ... we'll see.

Just pitiful. No one that played in a college game on Saturday, has ANY memory of the last time Texas won a big game, because it was 15 years ago.

So your response to the first sign of relevance in a decade and a half, is to talk trash?

How very BUSH LEAGUE of you. Go away punk.
