I sat through some horrible performances in 1998, including a thorough beating at the hands of Virginia Tech in Death Valley.
This 2023 team is disappointing for sure, but it is light years better than our 1998 team.

Bumping this...congrats on the W. Like I predicted, just a mess of a game. Both teams were mediocre. If I told you hitting 40+ yard FGs would be the key to winning most would have probably just taken the L and saved yourselves 3 hours. But that's what makes this rivalry, and CFB, so great.

Yep... 1998 we both sucked, but we won and carried off Tommy West on our shoulders. Then thank you for Brad Scott.... he was a big reason we won two national championships.

Just to clarify, I was more speaking to the period of late 90s-early 2000s where both programs sucked and were generally fighting for bowl eligibility. But weird flex on the Brad Scott stuff.

You've had some of the greatest head coaches in the history of college football fail miserably at your program. Best was an SEC East championship by Spurrier..... thats the closest you have come. (minus the 1969 ACC championship, but we won't go there b/c the SEC just means more
Coaches that won multiple national championships and coached at the highest level were sent to the graveyard in Columbia. Maybe its not the coach..... maybe its just the Titanic of college football programs?
I will give it to you guys though.... you have the most loyal fans in the history of college football if averaged out on a per win basis.
Its a great rivalry and look forward to the game every year. We're not going to win them all, but we will win most of them.

Who sucks worse, the home team (UofSC) or the visitor (Clemson) who covered a 7.5 spread without an offensive TD? I would say the home team.
