My bride to be and I attended the Clemson carolina game in Columbia. I was a freshman at CU that year. Yes we still wore rat hats during most of first semester. I digress. I remember that we sat in the end zone, one row in front of a loud carolina fan. Anyway, Clemson took an early lead and was still leading at halftime. At the beginning of the second half, I looked around and it appeared that the only fans remaining in the stadium were Clemson fans(slight exaggeration). The only problem was that carolina came back and won the game.
Towards the end of the game Clemson scored to get us within either one or two points to either tie or win. So we tried a two point conversion play that we had already run more than once that year. Needless to say it did not work, so the Clemson fans witnessed the carolina victory.
I hope that you younger Clemson fans fully appreciate the success that Clemson football has enjoyed in recent years. Let me assure you, it has not always been this way.

If Howard had kicked the extra point we would have been sole ACC champions that year. As it was, we shared the title with NC State.

I had no problem with the decision to go for it, but the fake kick fooled no one.
