I’m getting that feeling. All I see is Cade darting up our whole receiving corps, and I can’t envision anything else but LSU being overwhelmed.
This is my actual prediction, no BS

That’s the thing. LSU is going to make more mistakes than what would even be considered a “normal” amount of mistakes
That home field advantage is different in Clemson. Especially with this hype.

Agreed, They win titles just like we do. LSU always has a solid program and a great football tradition. It should be a tough game even though I hope we stomp them to prove a point.

On paper I like our chances, especially at home. Nuss might be a great QB but he's also the exact type of QB (or at least has been the exact type of QB) that our DL should be able to pressure effectively. I think that mitigates their speed advantage (except for maybe Brown...shifty dude) at Receiver. We're all excited about the new DC but it also is an "unknown". What will he put together to challenge their precise QB, fast WRs and inexperienced OL?
I feel good about our Offense. Cade has gotten better every year and he's got the best WR group he's had since he's been here. Many are saying it's our best OLine since he's been here. If we get a RB to step up, I think we'll be able to move the ball very well.
Special Teams had better be on their toes. Big runs by their return man should be expected.

With Tom Allen you just have to not overthink it. Ask yourself, could he really do worse than Wes Goodwin? He** no. Allen doesn’t need to be Brent Venables, although with Allen’s personality and being under Dabo, I could see that same type of success. No lie. Allen has always been open about effort and tackling being the most important things. And I could tell he would think that by just listening to him.
You’ve got to prepare for the short game. I also don’t see Nussmeier, on most plays, having enough time to make an explosive pass downfield. He will have to get rid quickly, or innovate.
Innovation, that’s not Nussmeier. He has to have time. And that’s one reason why I think this game goes south for LSU. Not only do they lack an innovative QB going against Clemson’s D-line, on the other side Clemson has an extremely innovative QB with a top regarded receiving corps.

I have seen them. What makes you so confident, I am always leery of the first game especial in the portal era, I would have said good guys by a score (TD or FG) just due to home field, I probably would have gone the other way (betting wise) if at LSU. I do think the team will be at least 10-2 and likely 11-1. Just curious as to your thought process on that one.

A few reasons I am very confident about this one:
Jul 29, 2025, 7:37 PM
|
|
1. Our offense is very experienced, especially at QB.
2. Tom Allen is a huge upgrade over Wes Goodwin, and I think our defense will be very much improved.
3. Dabo is a superior coach to Brian Kelly.
4. Home field advantage. We haven’t had that in either of our last two openers, and I think that hurt us.
5. We will be especially motivated to improve on our recent poor performances against the SEC.

That was all positive until you slipped in the dig on #5. While factual, there is no need to bring in the negative. But you just have to…

It isnt a dig, it is reality.

Consider the last few years versus the SEC:
2021 (1-1) Lost to Georgia, beat South Carolina
2022 (0-2) Lost to South Carolina, lost to Tennessee
2023 (2-0) Beat South Carolina, beat Kentucky
2024 (0-3) Lost to Georgia, lost to South Carolina, and lost to Texas
So in our last 9 games against the SEC, we are 3-6, including 0-3 in the most recent games.
The three wins were all against unranked teams.
The six losses were to teams ranked #1, #3, #5, #6, #15, and one unranked.
This is a problem. My belief is that our team is tired of losing to the SEC, especially to highly ranked ones. This will motivate us to be very focused and play well against an LSU team that is highly thought of and ranked highly.
It is sad that you view this as a “dig” against our team. Perhaps you need to work on accepting reality, even when you find it unpleasant. Our recent struggles against the SEC can be used as a positive, and I believe it will be.

When I believe I need a therapist, I’ll give you a call. I wouldn’t advise waiting by your phone for that to happen. What’s sad is that you can’t be positive about our football program without throwing in some negativity. I understand the reality, and even stated that what you said is factual. I also fully expected your predictable response which is why I said that in the first place. There is nothing positive about bringing those losses up now. The only purpose of including it in your initial comment was to open the door for the opportunity to expound on these shortcomings in your next comment. It was very typical of your approach to the football program and simply serves to pave the way for further criticism if the team doesn’t perform to the very lofty expectations being put on them this year. You have set the table in such a way that you can enjoy dishing out more criticism later. I hope you don’t get to feast at that table.

Yes, the degree to which one is tired of doing something correlates so strongly with the ability to not do that thing anymore - particularly where human competition is concerned. I just hope LSU isn't tired of something that our game represents. Then we might be in trouble.

Yeah I agree, and that’s the way of Clemson’s defense. And it has to be led by a guy like Allen. Or Venables.
How do I say this? I’ll put it lightly. This LSU team, in now way shape or form, poses the level of threat that either of those teams did. And if this LSU team faced the 2019 Clemson team, it would 63-0. I can say that without even seeing this year’s LSU team play.
LSU could win this year, it’s possible. Can’t say, even with my prediction, that it couldn’t happen. We aren’t even one full year removed from the Louisville disaster.

You are correct that you can SAY that… I can also say that this years Clemson team would have gotten a worse beat down from the 2019 LSU team than that team took.

Texas should’ve beaten them early in the season. Auburn should’ve beaten them midway through, but they kept getting better as Burrow and the WRs jelled with the OC. Plus, they had many defensive injuries until the end of the season.
This LSU team has the potential to be very good, not 2019 good, but they’ll have to grow into it. I’d much rather face them early and I hope we don’t see them in the postseason.

Hey that’s not a bad way to look at it @AtxTiger13 But I think the 2019 LSU team had the best offense to ever exist in CFB. Right behind that is 2013 FSU, then 2018 Clemson. Offense.

Facts. That 2019 LSU team did get significantly betterthroughout the year. I don't know that I'd say TExas and Auburn SHOULD have beaten them. Texas never had the ball with a chance to take the lead in the second half and Auburn's offense didn't do anything all day.

If you look at our openers against good teams over the past decade, and LSU's, the defense is far ahead of the offense. This is pretty standard, but we always play very conservative out of the gate. Remember the 25 swing passes against UGA? Even in 2018 against A&M we had a hard time scoring. A shootout is unlikely.

Georgia scored 34 and Duke scored 28. Granted, that wasn’t all on the defense, but a decent defense would not have given up that many.
Those games were a combination of bad offense and bad defense.

In last year's UGA - Clemson game the Dawgs only had 6 at the half. I think the story of the second half was adjustments and Clemson's defense wearing down.

You just don’t read well do you. Or maybe you just fail to respect the truth in order to advance your agenda. I have acknowledged the shortcomings of the team over the last 3-4 years, all the way back to DJ and poor wide receiver play, and including poor tackling and a general lack of energy on the defense last year. You are just flat lying if are saying my posts are all sunshine and unicorns. My observations about your attitude and comments are factual and consistent with many others on this site. I prefer to take a positive approach. It’s sad that that triggers you so badly. But you do you. It’s cheap entertainment.

I'm all for preseason hype but we all may need to throttle back a bit. LSU is loaded with talent. I don't care if a lot of that talent is new to LSU this year. This will be the most talented team Clemson will face unless they make it to the playoffs and even then, this still may be the most talent we will see.
QB - a wash RB - LSU OL - Clemson WR - a wash DL - Clemson LB - a wash DB - LSU
I see a very tight game and I'll pick Clemson with a 4-point victory but most of that is due to home field advantage. LSU has game one marked and are literally throwing all their eggs into that first game basket. Clemson has a history of starting slow and I can only hope that doesn't happen this year.
But it sure would be nice to roast those boys form LSU.

Not gonna happen. Probably a very close game. Offense is going to have to show up, not sold on the hype. Didn't see much from them when they played a good defense last year. Hopefully, Allen turns around the defense to what were used to seeing At Clemson.
