Maybe a little ghey-looking, but they obviously put a lot of time into it. Their precision is very good. My daughter is in the Univ of TN marching band and I know how much time it takes.

It is pretty cool when the Drum major high steps/kicks down the field like that. Those dudes sling those batons high in the air too. Kind of a vintage way of drum major leading the band like that. Also rather Tiger Band march down the field playing Orange Bowl March/ Tiger Rag rather than run onto the field to piped in music like they do.

what the drum major does is impressive but where I went to high school if you could do that it would just get you beaten up repeatedly

out, they don't have a single band member who is smart enough to "Dot the I" in OHIO. They always have to call in some outside person to do it. I thought the BIG was full of brainiac skools?

games. The 1st time i was eager to watch this OSU band i've heard so much about.
There is nothing special about their band entrance.. they come out and spell the school which every team in the country does.
The most Impressive BAND entrance i've watched was Tenn is the 2003 Peach Bowl

I was in Tiger Band for 4 years while I was at Clemson. As much as I dislike Ohio State as far as the video above I am very impressed with their precision and accuracy. It may not look like much to an unknowing eye but what they did in that video is tremendously impressive to me. There was a LOT of hours put into that performance. And for a football game the purpose is to create excitement and showmanship so Kudos to the band director and band members for pulling that off. I still hate Ohio State though. LOL

If you only knew how hard it is to get into the OSU Marching Band. Freshmen never make it. It has been like that since the 60's. They also march faster than most College Marching Bands. Say what you want about their football team, but do not low rate their Marching Band.

Are you replying to me? If you read my post I did exactly the opposite of low rating the band. I said they were impressive and that they put in a lot of hours. Maybe you should go back and read it again.

I hate everything about ohio and the hurting buckaroos - but with 4 years in a military HS band and 2 years in Tiger Band - this clip is pretty freaking awesome.

Here is another tradition by the OSU drum major. No idea about the origin. Someone in the comments said Union officers used to chuck their bayonets at Confederate coins embedded in a tree. Not sure about that one.

A buddy was 1st sax in the Tiger Band for 4 years:
“There are no upsets in Band.”
The schools with music majors are always going to be better than ours…just the way it is. And they are more talented than ours - we are the equivalent to a walk on football team. I still love our band, just being factual.
So find other things to hate about them - isn’t Day enough for us to hate?

That is THE BEST band in college football... period. So why crap on them, they put in a ton of work to get their 20 minutes once a week...
Clemson band is meh! and they put in the same amount of time... it's not the band members fault either, it's just not that entertaining....
Rally Cats is a different thing, they are entertaining and they are one of the best dance teams in college...

I went to a PennState OSU game once. I hate to admit but that OSU band puts most college bands to shame. They really are to be admired.
