It will probably depend on how much they offer. Their last coach was making 4.5 million. He might be waiting on one of those crazy 7.5 million offers everyone else is getting. If they only offer 4 he will probably stay and make more here with the job security.

That is stupid. It sets up his family and his children's children. Clemson paying 2 million vs Virginia offering a 25+ million dollar contract is not comparable. The stupid delusion of staying because you love Clemson is absurd. You can take the bag and still love Clemson. The snag came in negotiations. It's obvious he would be there coach if they gave him what he wanted.

No, it’s not stupid. Was Venables stupid to turn down all the jobs he’s been offered including Auburn? I’m sure he’s glad he waited on Oklahoma vs taking on the Auburn Board of Trustees. Why is it stupid for one of the highest paid Assistants in America to wait for the right situation for him and his family?

Coach Elliot is more interested in what influences he will have on the program he takes over. Working for Dabo has taught him that you as the HC have to build the team based on your personality, values, and priorities.
Durin an event o had the privilege to hear TE speak. He layed out Clemson’s priorities. #1 is not winning. Tony said the try to visualize a recruit when he is 30. The focus on what he learned while at Clemson that will make him a good man, a good husband and a good father. A man that represents the community and Clemson with character. They teach the players to love one another and count on each other. They teach them how important education is and how to develop an excellent work ethic. Through this process they are able to teach players how to be winners on and off the field. They teach them to never give up even during adversity. IMO that is why Dabo is so proud of this team. They never quite. Even in thr 3 games we lost this year they fought until the last second of the game.
If Tony does not have the resources, the support or the freedom to shape his program in a similar way then I would say he is staying at Clemson.
Tony is also the kind of man who will put God first and will pray about his career moves. Money is not the most important factor as to weather he accepts or declines an opportunity.

Finally someone understands Tony. For you folks that love money and have no faith you will never understand. Those that crucified Jesus never got it either??

Interesting ... my UVA buds said UVA AD had some conditions ... retaining some of Bronco's staff, etc.

They really like what they were building and want to keep some continuity rather than going through a rebuild. I couldn’t say whether it’s on the AD’s checklist, but appears to be true amongst fans.

Duke has moved on, pursuing Jeff Munkin and Jason Garrett. And if the 247Sports reports are correct, UVA is now talking to Josh Gattis.
We’ll never know the reason for all the indecision, but he may be back here next season whether that’s what he wanted or not.

Fortunately for Tony, he has a high-paying job at Clemson and little responsibility for recruiting and bowl game preparation at this time. So he can take his time and pontificate on the advantages/disadvantages of his future at UVA, Duke and Clemson.
But more seriously, a HC opportunity in these days and times means with success or a buy-out, your family will become financially elite for decades with any reasonable fiduciary management. Hard to back out of even with conditions ...

Based on the fact that Antonio Williams accepted last night, I think he rejects it and told AW and his father as much!!!

Wished you were going to be OC since you know so much. We probably would have averaged over 40 points a game with you calling the plays.
