Is there any room for Dabo and our coaches to improve?

Nov 13, 2022, 2:13 PM

I know, I know, Dabo pulled us out of a perpetual 8-5 team an won us 2 Nattys.

Are we satisfied w everything Dabo does? Are we even allowed to criticize Dabo and his coaches?

Can we bring in an NFL level premier OC and play caller? Is Streeter the "Best" we can do? And there is our Passing Game Coordinator Richardson. Or, are simply so Blind, that we just dont where Dabo's stubborn action (or inaction) is taking us?

At the risk ofbeing called a "coot" and loser, I am just throwing these out there.

What MUST happen to force any changes? At the current rate, I don't see doing better than a 11-2 with no chance of beating a GA or Ohio State.

For now, I think I’ll continue to support the Clemson Tigers as I have since 1980s!

You can't fix a problem until you admit you have one. I trust Dabo when he says he understands the challenges he faces and I also know there isn't a lot you can do to adjust anything meaningful when your season is 75% over.

How he approaches the offseason and what he does to address our needs will determine how quickly we can get back on track.

Bring in some really BIG time offensive linemen and coach them up would help a LOT. A couple of linebackers on the other side of the ball would be nice too! Finding the right QB and ALLOWING him to get in the game could very well be a positive move. Need I say more?

First Dabo needs to stay out of the offense.i would love an NFL caliber OC. We need a QB WR LB CB.

We lack an elite player at QB and WR. We also lack an emotional leader on the D. Otherwise we are on track. In two years we are gonna be hurting at RB much worse than we are at WR this season.

IMO Streeter is a better play caller than CTE who won two nattys. We will need to address recruiting at RB and WR which might be a coaching change which I doubt Dabo makes

We're not off any track...all of us care about winning or losing...that's not a problem...when you look at some of the televised football they can't pan the crowd cause there ain't any...when we quit caring and griping here and there then we have a problem...we don't have a problem with Dabo...he does not like to lose...he is a little to loyal to poor play but he will get it done...which other coach would you like to trade Dabo for??? Maybe Dumbo Fishnet...he'll probably be available soon!

Every person has room to improve since there are no perfect humans. Would improvement by our coaches result in a better record? Not likely.

Maybe improvement in our coaches wouldn't allow for a better record but improved coaching would certainly have a better overall impact.

As Reggie Herring once said

Nov 13, 2022, 2:51 PM

“We got who we got.”

The players and coaches right now are the ones we’re stuck with this season.

It will be interesting to see if any notable changes occur in the off-season, in terms of both the coaches on staff as well as the approach to getting new players (still just high school recruits or also using the portal to address needs).

I will be surprised to see any significant changes.

I am hoping you are wrong but I'm also finding it difficult to argue this point...

Yep, just like basketball.

What makes you think that changes would need to be forced? Dabo has made the necessary changes in the past. Hard to believe how quickly folks lose faith. One day he will be gone and good luck with the next coach.

But our problems aren’t new!

Nov 13, 2022, 3:54 PM

We have had a bad offense for the last two seasons.

When is Dabo going to fix it, or at least start trying to fix it?

Promoting the QB coach to offensive coordinator, not getting any impact players from the portal, and doing nothing to innovate our offense doesn’t look like fixing it to me.

Oh the irony!
Being a top 10 team in a “bad year” according to you must be fixed immediately.
Yet in another sport - we stay mired in bottom half of the ACC , recruit players off the portal you love so much, turn over the assistant coaches, and nothing changes. I would love to see the basketball program “fail” by making the elite 8 year after year.
Irony!

No matter what I’m a tiger through and through. I think Dabo knows the college football landscape is changing. How he handles this off season will be a big factor on our program’s trajectory. We have to use the portal, everyone else is.

Of course. Every year. Every day, really.

Success is part of a journey, not a destination.

Thanks for deciding to continue to support Clemson, since the 1980's.

Here's the problem with your questions/statements.

Nov 13, 2022, 4:01 PM

You don't really know what all the problems are. You can speculate and that's ok, but that's all it is, speculation. The playbook is more vast than we've seen. Hell, Streeter even admitted pre-season they dumbed it down. Why do you think they did that? There are tangible reasons we aren't seeing the 2018 team on the field and they aren't all on one position group, coordinator, coach or player. That much should be obvious.

Re: Here's the problem with your questions/statements.

Nov 13, 2022, 4:47 PM

I confess that I have never played competitve Football at any level. I have, however, followed Football for 30+ years now, and can tell a team playing well vs team on decline.

I hope I am not the only one that thinks like we need to upgrade the current coaches

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yet still, you have no first bad knowledge of what

Nov 13, 2022, 5:55 PM

the coaches are discussing or what is going on with the players otherwise. You're just speculating that the coaches are the prime issue with what we see on gameday. You know what they tell the media which isn't sufficient for you to trust our coaches are adjusting with that they have. That's fine, but there is a reason why you're just a speculating spectator and they are paid millions to run a high level football program.

There is always room for improvement.

Nov 13, 2022, 5:25 PM

There was room for improvement after 15-0.

Why would you ask such a question?

Reminds me of a coach being asked on the sideline before a Super Bowl, "Coach, is this the ultimate game?" He replied, "I don't think so. We're playing next year, aren't we?"

No, you're not allowed to criticize Dabo. He knows what he is doing.

Have the fan base will be on suicide watch when the eventual day comes that Dabo leaves Clemson. A sad day it will be...

And when that day comes, you all should remember these days how you all trashed him and thought you could do a better job.

Can you improve, a promotion from burgers to fries maybe? You can improve this site by just going back to Cootervile, Coot.
